However, you can program another button to act as the cable box on/off command. If your mother does not or rarely uses the 'Mute' button then you could teach the remote the command of turning the cable box on and off. This would be the only possible way of doing it for the time being. I do not have Infrared Remotes for the XBOX or for DISH Network Hopper and Super-Joey. My DISH remotes I use are UHF radio. However, I have an android phone that has an infrared sensor. I was able to download APPS that emulated the XBOX remote and emulated a DISH Network remote and I have an IR remote for my receiver volume. I could have emulated that remote too if I really needed to with an APP. I was able to program each button for each device I would like to control for each button. My video passes through the XBOX and from there to the TV and receiver. The setup works as such that when I turn it on the XBOX, it turns on both my TV and my Receiver all at once and likewise when I turn it off. I actually walk in my room and say "ALEXA, please turn on my XBOX" and it does. Work great for us, but just too complicated for Granny to wrap her mind around. For this easy remote I was able to set the ON/OFF Button for the XBOX from the APP on the android phone. It does great to turn it on, but on the actual XBOX remote it requires the user to hold on/off for 3 seconds before the XBOX will go off. This remote will not do that, but will pulse the signal instead over & over rapidly. No big deal. As long as it turns on, that's mostly what I care about so that our granny can get up in the morning and turn it on herself. As for off, we told her if she really does need to turn it off, to just walk over to the glowing light and push it. I think she's got it. As for Channel UP & DWN, we set that for the DISH Network. We also set a favorites menu in dish so that the number of channels is significantly less than 200+ channels. For volume, it controls the receiver.
