Plastic mouthpieces are not so good. Not as bright sounding as a brass trumpet, but I like it. Almost "flugalhornish". Ptrumpet it very responsive. Surprised at how well it plays compared to my Yamaha professional trumpet. Intonation is surprisingly good considering the price. Need to pull the 1st and 3rd slides out a bit to play in tune. The valve action is not very good. You won't be playing flight of the bumblebee on this horn. Valves are just barely passable. I hope they break in after a while, because otherwise I like everything else about the ptrumpet. 2 stars for the valves, but 5 stars for the sound and being easy to play. I'll overlook the valves for now and hope they break in over time. I have been a trumpet player for years and this was a fun gift for another trumpet player that owns 50 historic trumpets. The sound is quite good, much better than you would expect. One of the valves on the unit received is quite sluggish and the other 2 are fine. He tried cleaning the valves, he tried using water on the valve, then cleaned again and tried light weight valve oil, then tried trading to a different valve location (yes, these valves are interchangeable to any of the 3 valve locations). The one valve is still sluggish.
