I installed on Jeep Grand Cherokee, needed a few feet of extra wire (22g) and a couple of sealed connectors in order to install on/off switch inside vehicle. **Q: What gauge wire is used for install?** A: I used what I had on hand. 18awg I think? **Q: Is 2” the size of the lighting area or the overall size? What is the outside cube dimension?** A: Not sure of outside dimensions **Q: what vehicles are the harnesses compatible with so they are a direct plug in?** A: They should work for any vehicle. The harness hooks up to the battery and has its own switch included.
