Building Natural Ponds: Create a Clean, Algae-free Pond without Pumps, Filters, or Chemicals Review: Everything You Need to Know - Probably the only book I'll ever read about building natural ponds. A must read for anyone looking to build this type of pond. Generally, this type of pond does not require a pump or a filter and there is no need to add any chemicals. The conventional pond building guides will guide you to do just the opposite. I'm thrilled about having read this book before building my natural pond because the outcome was fantastic, thanks to the author. The book also contains good information about plants and fish so that you can make an educated decision. Review: Great step by step guide - I just moved to new property and I really wanted a pond, but I didn't want to run electrical there for a pump. This book really helped me create a natural pond that looks amazing! My pond is about 10' x 25' and 3' deep. We've only had it going for about 2 months and it's already clearing up. I think in another month or two it should be crystal clear. The book is. Great step by step guide from selecting a location all the way to filling with fish and plants.

Great for anyone planning on building a Natural Pond
If you would like a pond without a lot of filters/chemicals/etc this book is very informative. Lots of helpful information about how to combat algae without chemicals, how to keep a balanced ecosystem, how to design your pond, etc. The author also has a helpful YouTube channel and Facebook group. I found it quite useful when building my first pond.

A Pond That Echoes Nature
In most garden pond books, it doesn't take long before talk of technology, pumps and filters comes into play. This book, however, is different. As occurs in the wild to a nature-created pond, there is no filter, no pump and no technology of any kind, and nature does just fine. This book intends to describe what it takes to recreate what nature does naturally. Quite informative and interesting.

A very informative book!
The advice is great and the author is very knowledgeable. I’m not sure I’m ready for a natural pond, however. Maybe a container pond would be a good place for me to start. But when I am ready for a natural pond, I have the book that will help me accomplish it!

There's better choices.
Mostly B&W photos, a bad choice for this topic. Glaring absence of mentions of mosquito dunks, UV sterilizers, and biofilters.

Liked it so much we built the pond
We built the pond, after reading this book. We wanted to have fish but not have a big chemistry lab going on all the time and changing out water all the time. This book had the answer in terms of adding enough plants and leaving the bottom undisturbed and other techniques to make our rather small pond function like a natural pond does. The double-sided protection of the liner is a great idea.

Jam packed with information
This is a short book, but it's packed with so many great tips, and everything you need to know to get started. Highly recommend reading as you're planning your pond. I wish I would have read this before I started digging, but I got it just in time to avoid a lot of rookie mistakes.
