Oh, my Kaidan!
My Thoughts: I just love when I find a series that I cannot get enough of; that I just want to devour, page by page word by word. The Sweet Trilogy is one of those series. A series I just can't get enough of; can't get enough of the story, can't get enough of the characters. Wendy has created a series, a world, which I am so glad I can get lost in. It's the world that Wendy created that I find so unique and so very interesting. She created this world where angels, nephilim and even demons exist. I have read quite a bit of angel books, and I have found only a few that that I thoroughly enjoy. Sweet Peril is one of those few that I simply love. It is her take on angels, nephilim and demons that is interesting. Wendy created this whole new idea on how these creatures live and function that is all very fascinating. The old energy was alive between us. I was aware of him, of every detail about him, just as I'd always been. And I could tell by the tightness in his body that he was hyperaware of me, too. Sweet Peril picks up about six months after the first book ends. Anna is still trying her best to find a balance between her demon and angel sides. Still trying to figure out her purpose, what she is supposed to be doing. Still trying to avoid those damn demon whispers, still trying to have a close-to-normal life as she can. And as I got deeper and deeper into the book I saw that Anna really is a strong character. I saw a lot of growth in her since the first book, she seemed to have a much more leveled head then she did before, even though she is still a bit confused on how to handle everything that is happening to her. I was glad to see where she was as a whole. Anna is still trying to get over or come to terms with the fact that Kaidan can't be seen with her. I could feel the sadness that she had about how things ended in the last book. But as she starts to slowly figure out her purpose, she starts surrounding herself with a team of nephilim who are ready to stop being treated the way they are, Kaidan included. Now, when Kaidan is around, I loved every single second of it. Who wouldn't, really? Like Anna, you can see the struggle they are fighting against, the struggle to hide their feeling for each other. It was a very emotional experience, even for me, the reader. Everything that happens between these two characters, Kai and Anna, is all very intense. I enjoyed every second of that! Also, I could see the change, the growth, of Kaidan. I'm very proud of the progress he has made, though at times in the book, I wanted to face-palm him. But despite the situation with those two, they kept fighting; they try their best to do what is right. Anna and Kaidan aren't the only characters worth reading about, oh no, I really enjoyed the other Neph. The twins, loved them, and Kopano. Who I really got to understand and know. I was able to see, to experience that these Neph, they all have these conflicts that they are fighting, both within them and around them. It was sad to see some of their situations. I'm glad that Wendy gives her readers an opportunity to get a more in-depth look at the lives of the Neph. Not only were the characters wonderful, but so was the story and the pace. Wendy moved the story along nicely, gave me just enough to want more of the book, more of her story. I even got goose-bumps at certain parts of the book! Now, if an author can do that, it's pretty incredible. Sweet Peril was a great second book in the Sweet Trilogy, better than I could of even hoped for. Wendy is a very talented author. And the story she created, I became so engrossed with, I couldn't put the book down until I consumed every last word. I really do recommend this book to angel lovers, and those who would like a different take on angels, nephilim and demons. Wendy created a really cool world to get lost in.

Kaiden fans should find plenty to swoon about!
It's book two in a trilogy, and you know what that means? The hero and heroine are going to separated for some reason, right? It seems like that is what happens in every single trilogy I read ... I fall in love with a couple, only to have them fall apart for much of the second book until they finally find a way to make it work in book three. It can be heart-wrenching at times. Well, before beginning Sweet Peril I was worried for sweet Anna and her bad-boy (sort of) love, Kaidan. There didn't seem to be any way for these two to be together in the crazy world in which they live, and Kaidan seemed determined to not allow his heart to guide both of them to certain destruction. So he left. And that is how Sweet Peril begins. Kaidan is all the way across the country in LA. Months have passed, but Anna is still in love with him and in a definite funk. With legionnaires watching her moves much more closely after the events at the end of the first book, Anna throws herself into her work as a drinking tempter. She goes from being known as the good girl to being known as the party girl. She has changed. Sort of. The reality is that she is still the good girl she has always been, but she is trying to make things work in a world where she is required to at least appear like she is tempting the people around her to drink alcohol. Seeing Anna like this was a little sad for me. I felt like part of her was being destroyed each time she worked for the Dukes to bring others down. I think that Kaidan agrees. To all of you Kaidan fans out there ... be aware that he is not around for much of the first half of the book. When he is, it is awesome, but for most of the first half of the book Anna is sent on missions with Kopano. They are travelling around the world to recruit possible Neph allies to help them overthrow the Dukes and bring freedom to the Nephs. Kopano is in love with Anna. Anna finds herself mildly attracted to Kopano, but it is nothing compared to her feelings for Kaidan. Kaidan seems unattainable. Kopano would be an easier relationship. But Anna can't bring herself to feel that way about him. I was a bit worried that we were heading into love triangle territory, but it never quite gets there, thank goodness. I do love Kopano as a character, and I felt so bad for him at times in this story ... but I think things are looking up for him by the end of the book. Hurray! VERY mild spoilery ahead: I loved this second book in the Sweet trilogy. I will admit that there is a different feel to this book compared to the first book. For much of the book Anna and Kopano are sent on missions. We are introduced to other Nephs who are not so happy with their lot in life. There is a lot of angst about Kaidan and his apparent lack of feelings for Anna coupled with Kopano and his multitude of feelings for her. I felt like we were almost in a holding pattern, waiting for something to happen to light a fire somewhere, either between Anna and Kaidan or Anna and Kopano. Finally, half way through the book that fire is lit. And it was AWESOME! Kaidan and Anna had some great scenes together leading up to that point, but it was in the airport as Anna was leaving Kaidan that we finally got to see Kaidan come clean about his feelings for her. I LOVED that scene. After waiting a book and a half Kaidan and Anna were going to be together. Somehow. The truth is that they still face the danger from the Dukes who do not allow relationships among their children. If they are discovered, Kaidan and Anna will be publicly killed. Add to that the fact that they are actively plotting to overthrow the Dukes, and Anna and Kaidan are in some serious danger if the truth comes out. I adore Kaidan as a character. He has spent his entire life locking his heart because of his horrible responsibilities to his father, but Anna changes him. He wants to be good ... or at least better. This pull in him is so fascinating. But I have to admit, in this book I missed a bit of his internal struggles. Once he chose to be with Anna he lost a bit of his edge. Don't get me wrong. I was cheering him on all the way, and I am glad for his decisions in this book, but after the issues between Anna and him are mostly resolved, a great source of conflict in the story ended. What follows is A LOT of great Kaidan romantic moments. He is definitely AMAZING, but taking away that anxiety he had been dealing with for so much of the first book and the beginning of this one also ended up taking away some of the elements that made the previous book soar above a crowded field of paranormal romances. I still loved it, but it did knock this story down a tiny little bit for me. I have to admit, I expected the entire world to fall apart for Anna at some point during the second half of this book. Once she seemed to finally get the chance to be with Kaidan officially I was convinced that something horrible was going to happen to take this away from her. I thought that they would be caught and punished. I thought that one of their friends would end up being a traitor. I thought that someone would end up dead. So every scene was so stressful to me. Stuff does happen, but nothing as horrible as I was expecting. I'm going to have to go back and re-read this, knowing that. It will help me to savor the moments a lot more. In a way, I think that this really shows the power of Wendy Higgins's writing because as a reader I was feeling the same sort of day to day anxiety about the future as the main characters were. Very well written in this regard! This is a great addition to the Sweet trilogy. There is a lot that these Nephs are going to have to overcome in the finale. But Anna and Kaidan have each other finally. And they have a good and solid group of friends at their side (I love Blake!). I can't wait to see what happens next. Four stars!

EXTREMELY addictive!
WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM SWEET EVIL. If you have not read Sweet Evil, Iโd consider not reading this. After the very close call at the Summit, Anna and Kaidan are forced to go separate ways. Anna in Sweet Evil was very innocent, but in Sweet Peril sheโs the life of the party. But, seeing as sheโs the Daughter of Belial (Duke of drugs and alcohol) she has to keep up her act and make people drink. She is visited by a character and has been told what she is supposed to do. She is to travel around around the world with Kopano (Kope for short) collecting allies when the time is right. Kaidan is almost absent for the majority of the book seeing as heโs across the United States, but after the first half of the book he is brought back in FULL FORCE. We were introduced to some great new characters and got to see some of the previous characters in Sweet Evil develop more. We didnโt get to see much of Jay and Veronica though. The most prominent character that we see is Kope. My Thoughts: I read this along with a friend from BookTube, Suna @ kiwilover25. For the last half of the book I was constantly tweeting her on Twitter about the book and absolutely fangirling hardcore. I had a VERY hard time putting this book down. If you donโt count Friday (which I didnโt read at all), it only took me 2 days to read this book. I read over 3/4โฒs of the book yesterday. I would consider picking a day where you donโt have much planned to read this book. I can promise you might have a hard time putting the book down like I did. I donโt think Iโve fangirled that hard over a book in a LONG time. This is DEFINITELY one of my all time favorite series hands down. Itโs VERY close to the Twilight Saga and The Hunger Games trilogy. I can not stress how much I adored this book. Iโm really glad Suna talked me into reading this together because had she not have said anything I would have pushed the book back. I now have to wait 4 more months to see Kaidan, which really stinks because heโs on the VERY tip top of my list of fictional boyfriends. If you thought he was hot in Sweet Evil, oh man. Be ready for some fangirling. Heโs extremely hot in Sweet Peril! Favorite Quotes: โI love you,โ I whispered. โIโve loved you longer,โ he said.โ . โReady to s-snuggle?โ he asked Kaidan, a slight clatter in his voice. Only Blake could joke on a night like this and get away with it. Kaidan shook his head and undressed down to his boxers, too, the tension finally shedding away from his frame. โI swear, mate. If I feel something poke me in the back. . .โ Blakeโs laugh was dry. โIโm pretty sure my junk froze off, man, so donโt worry.โ . โI was more myself with you during those three days than Iโve ever been with anyone in my life. Itโd be easier if I could be fake with you, but you bring out everything in me, little Ann. All of it.โ . โMy girlfriend is a party girl angel who can kick some arse and cook.โ

Completely mesmerizing
Sweet Peril was completely mesmerizing. Whether Kaidan was trying to seduce or push Anna away, or Anna was trying to discover his feelings, I was enraptured. They twisted my emotions around in the best possible way. Especially that lead up to the ending! This series continues to be a favorite, and I can't wait to see how the ending unfolds. Anna continued to struggle in life, not only with her confusion towards Kaidan, but also because she had to "work". Since the others knew that she existed, she was being watched. So Anna transformed herself into the ultimate party girl, and was a bad influence to the humans around her. Which is the polar opposite of her goody two-shoes tendencies. I felt horrible for Anna as she emotionally fell apart. But thankfully her will to live was strong! I was so happy to see that no matter how depressed she got, she continued to fight for her right to live and protect the ones she loved. But I was happiest to see that Anna was willing to take risks. Especially ones that revolved around Kaidan! The risks she took around Kaidan had my stomach in knots. I was so nervous for her safety and her heart, but Anna was determined to know Kaidan's thoughts and feelings towards her. Which I desperately wanted to know too! But Kaidan tried to have a death grip on keeping everything inside, except his ability to seduce. But every once in a while it seemed as though he would slip up, and I grabbed a hold of those glimpses and held them close to my heart. Kaidan continued to captivate me, made me smile and fan my face. That's why it was so hard to see Anna and Kopano spend so much time together. Anna and Kopano traveled together to recruit as many allies as they could. They not only had their lives to worry about but their hearts too. Remember that Kopano liked Anna back in Sweet Evil? Well that hasn't disappeared. And I was scared to death that Anna would act on that attraction and friendship. I just wanted her to firmly place him in the friend zone. So their times together kept me on my toes. I was so anxious with how the story would unfold, except for when other old friends made appearances. Thankfully, Anna was able to form stronger friendships within their group of friends. I absolutely adored the twins. Maria was the sweetest person ever, and I loved getting to learn more about Ginger. Shocking, but she was so much fun with her snippy attitude lol! I'm definitely a fan of both of them! Ohhh and Blake too! And another female whose name I can't mention. I loved that friendship plays such an important part in this story! Sweet Peril created an emotional overload in me, and I say this with a huge smile on my face! Moments made me swoon, elated, crushed, scared and I loved that my emotions pulled me in so many different directions. I am so happy I picked up this series! And if you are a huge paranormal lover, then I really think you would enjoy this series too.

Even better than Sweet Evil!
***ARC received by publisher for review purposes*** I fell in love with Sweet Evil last year! With its unique and dark twist on nephilims, angels and demons it was easy to become addicted to this story. And Kai! Ah, he was for sure my favorite part of the book. I was so happy to get an early copy of Sweet Peril. Although I ended up really loving this book, we had a rocky start... After the close call at the summit, Anna and Kaidan are forced apart for their own safety. She has to corrupt souls by becoming this wild party girl and Kai...as the son of the Duke of Lust, he has to continue to corrupt souls a different way. Even though I liked Anna in Sweet Evil, I was glad to see that she wasn't so sweet and innocent anymore, but she was till Anna. I was so excited when Kaidan came out fairly quickly in the book and was not disappointed by their first tension-filled interaction. But then, Kaidan is almost nowhere to be seen for almost 200 pages! Sure, we get a few short glimpses of him a couple of times which made me only want to read more of him. Meanwhile Anna is off with Kopano trying to recruit other Nephilim as allies. This was actually a very good and important part to the story. We got to see them go to different places and meet new interesting characters. But the whole time I kept thinking to myself: Where's Kaidan? When are we going to see Kaidan again? I kind of felt like when I was reading New Moon and I just wanted all the Jacob parts to be over so we can get some Edward action! Luckily, Anna's last stop on her mission is to LA to visit Kaidan. From that point on, the book is just one great Kai/Anna moment after another. Totally made up for the lack of Kai in the first half of the book! Anna and Kaidan are the perfect example of forbidden love. With the demons monitoring their every move, Anna and Kaidan have to be careful to avoid close contact between them. Most of the book, Kai tries to convince Anna that what they had between them was just physical attraction, when really he is just trying to push her away to keep her safe. But Anna isn't giving up on them. As much as Kai tries to push Anna away, once she arrives at his house all bets are off! Anna and Kaidan must decide what they are willing to risk in order to be together. The chemistry between Anna and Kai is off-the-charts-HOT! Even hotter than the first book! I've been reading so much NA lately that some of the YA books have been...bland to me lately. This was not the case with this book. Sweet Peril had everything I love about YA. Sometimes it's the deliciously frustrating sexual chemistry and tension between characters that is better than having them ripping off their clothes every 5 minutes. There were so many hot swoony moments that will make your heart race and fingers tingle. *fans self* We are introduced to a lot of great new characters in Sweet Peril and we get to see some familiar characters from book one. I think the character that took me by surprise the most was Anna's dad. For a demon, he was really a sweet guy and a great dad (which is rare in YA books). I'm looking forward to seeing more of him, Patti, Blake and the sisters in the next book. I love the way Sweet Peril ended. It didn't end in a shocking cliffhanger which I am grateful because I really don't think my poor heart could have handled it. I'm so excited for the next book although I'm sad that's it will be the last one. I want more Kai! This series is so much more than your average angel/demon books. Already counting down the days until Sweet Reckoning! 5 out of 5 stars! Some of my favorite non-spoiler scenes from Sweet Peril: -"I promised myself I'd never do the work of my demon father--polluting souls--leading humans to abuse their bodies with drugs and alcohol. I'd been naรฏve to make such a vow. I'd been naรฏve about a lot of things." -With his eyes still closed he muttered a guttural plea. "Let me kiss you." "Okay," I whispered. "No." His eyes crashed into mine as his hands flattened against the dryer above my shoulders. "I need to kiss your body." Oh...yesohyesohyes... "Okay," I managed to say. -"Anna...the night of the summit, when you were saved, it was the only time in my life I've thanked God for anything." I stared. He stared. Those words. They would melt me over and over for all time. -He began kissing the edge of the panty line at my hip, tasting me. I felt his teeth graze my skin, followed by his hot tongue, and my knees almost gave out. His hands held my waist, steady and firm, and it was a good thing. Because it felt like a tornado of sensory charges was building inside me. I didn't know how much more I could take. -They saw love as a weakness, but they were wrong. Love would keep us going. Love was our strength.

Compelling plot, great world building, but the book failed to grab me
I re-read Sweet Evil before picking up this book, and I was struck again but how much I loved the world building in this series. And angel / demon mythology is well thought out, and far more believable than what I've seen in other books of this ilk. Yes, I'm thinking of you Hush Hush. The plot is compelling. Anna is traveling the world gathering Neph recruits for her cause. With the help of her father, and his allies, they are building an army to take on the demons. The stakes are higher, and the risk of discovery greater, because Anna isn't just hiding her purity; she's taking direct actions against the demonic hierarchy. It makes for an exciting read. While the side characters fascinated me, unfortunately, my main complaint with this series continues to be Anna and Kaidan themselves. Anna is a bit too innocent and soft to earn my respect and Kaidan can be a jerk. Sweet Evil ended with Kaidan breaking up with Anna (if you can ever truly say they were together) and moving away. That book ended on a healing note with Anna realizing she needed to love Kaidan with an open hand. To let him go, and trust he'd return if he was meant for her. This was a great insight on her part - I was behind it 100%. Unfortunately, she seems to have completely lost that clarity in Sweet Peril. Instead giving him space, she obsesses, and spends an inordinate amount of time between missions calling Kaidan, showing up at events where he might be, and borderline stalking him. Looking at her actions objectively, they are a bit creepy, not to mention disrespectful of Kaidan's wishes. If I'd told someone to leave me alone, I'd be highly disturbed if they continued to try to "show me they still cared" in the fashion Anna does. I know this sounds harsh, and I really do get where Anna is coming from. She's pure, and kind, and determined to let Kaidan know she loves him no matter what. I like where her heart is, and her approach is made more palatable by the fact we, as readers, ultimately know Kaidan does love her, and wants to be with her, but that notwithstanding I found myself troubled by her actions through the first half of this book. Despite her stalker tendencies, I do like Anna's determination to show kindness and love to everyone she meets. She's a bit too innocent and soft at times, but she is also brave, dedicated, and loyal, and it's hard to not admire her. I wasn't a huge fan of Kaidan after book 1. I can certainly understand his appeal - he's sort of the ultimate bad boy, but I'm not the sort of girl that's ever found true bad boys appealing, so he just wasn't my cup of tea. His less than gentle treatment of Anna did little to endear him to me either. Surprisingly he goes a long way to earning my forgiveness in this new installment. He's barely present in the first half of the book, but a huge fixture near the end. We finally get some insight into his motivations, and struggles, and what's going on in his head. We also get some very yummy, steamy scenes sure to leave you fanning yourself. Admirers of this character will be thrilled, and those opposed (like myself) will probably find yourself softening to him. I've started to forgive Kaidan, but I'm still not completely a fan. There's just something intrinsically unappealing about a character, that by his very nature will probably never be able to be faithful to his woman (at least for right now while he's under his father's thumb). The "love triangle" such as it is, was handled well and basically resolved in this book (and the people rejoiced!). Kope never stood much of a chance, and he's pretty quickly moved out of the picture, and given a door prize of another potential love. Since I tend to dislike love triangles anyway, I was happy this was resolved so quickly and with minimal drama. I really debated between three and four stars for this book. It was highly entertaining, and better than the first book, but my feelings while reading it could best be described as lukewarm. I never once had that nail biting, OMG-I-just-can't-put-this-book down feeling. I also found myself rolling my eyes over Anna's actions on more than one occasion. However, to be fair, I'm going to go ahead and give it four stars though because the author did such an amazing job with her world building and plot, and I feel most readers wouldn't share my complaints with Kaidan and Anna.

Thrilling, wickedly tantalizing sequel!
[...] You know a book is especially good when you finish it in less than a day. Either that, or it's a really short book. And I think that's all the more impressive when it's a sequel, since most of the 'hooking' (think fishing) happens in the first book. I practically devoured "Sweet Peril", the sequel of "Sweet Evil" by Wendy Higgins (see my review here!), in a couple of sittings, eagerly sucking in all the wickedly delicious romance and crazy action--and I want more! Six months have passed since Anna was nearly killed at the Dukes' summit. Six months of trying to appease the demon whisperers who keep tabs on her by polluting souls--even if it means earning an unwanted reputation as the school's party girl. And all the while there's Kaiden, the son of the Duke of Lust, never straying from her mind. When an unexpected angel visits her with an age-old prophecy, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, the son of Wrath, to seek Nephilim allies. Their goal: to win freedom, even if it means putting up a fight against the powerful Dukes. Sequels are always great for character development. Sure, we get a picture of who the characters are in the first book, but it's in the sequel that we see them really grow and develop as people. Anna starts off in "Sweet Evil" as a naive, Southern girl who's nothing but a goody goody, but in "Sweet Peril", we see her as the strong yet reluctant daughter of the Duke of Substance Abuse (kind of a lame name, but okay). What I really like about Anna is that she's always honest with herself. Despite the fact that she hates the work that she has to do as a Nephilim, she knows her weakness for alcohol and drugs, and tries to resist those temptations. She's also honest about her feelings for Kai and Kope, which I think Ms. Higgins did a great job in developing throughout the novel. Instead of constantly second-guessing herself and ending up playing around with both boys' feelings, Anna remains pretty sure of what she wants, and thank goodness for that! Speaking of Kai, holy moly, the heat of the romance in "Sweet Peril" would have shattered a thermometer. Kai himself is just such an amazing character--probably one of the more swoon-worthy guys in YA novels I've read about in a long while. His hidden vulnerability and his true feelings for Anna are so carefully (but quite obviously) masked under apathy, and I just loved the way we saw more of his true emotions and everything as the book progressed! I didn't exactly find myself falling for Kaiden in "Sweet Evil", but after what I read...count me in! Trust me, if you liked him in the first book, you'll be drooling and begging for him in the second. I just went back to my old review on "Sweet Evil", and saw that I'd written that the interaction between Kai and Anna wasn't believable. But after reading about how much he cares about Anna and a couple of steamy scenes (c'mon, you saw it coming), I was more than convinced! The storyline of "Sweet Peril" was so full of exciting happenings that I couldn't put the book down. The tensions are definitely higher than they were in "Sweet Evil", I think, and it was especially exciting to follow Anna and Kope as they travelled to Damascus, Australia and London, and even more exciting to meet other Neph. Seeing the twins Marna and Ginger and the laidback and totally lovable Blake again was fun--I kind of want friends like them now! New characters like Zania and Flynn just added to the fun and spice of the already great cast of characters as well. So much happens in the book, even when, in a way, it's really just leading up to the final showdown in the next book! "Sweet Peril" is a thrilling roller coaster of a ride, where you end up falling in love with the amazing cast of characters even more deeply, and just get caught up in the whirlwind romance and escalating tensions as Anna and her friends prepare for the imminent fight against the Dukes. I absolutely cannot wait for the final installment, "Sweet Reckoning". I'll just have to twiddle my thumbs and tear out my hair until next year. Rating: 5/5

Almost there
Review: Roughly a month ago I read the first book and it still fresh in my memory, I took on the second part. In general, it turned out better than the first, BUT it also developed a couple of new issues. So, all in all, I still like the series, it's original and gripping, but I can't give it over 3 stars yet. YET! Hope that changes in the final book. Even though the story continues to be unique, action packed and possessing a colorful cast of flawed characters to root for, I felt this book lacked a substantial culmination point to the plot or at least I didn't feel any. There were mayor several events scattered all over the book, but I didn't feel that there was a start, journey and high point. So, overall, I can say that the pace was something I needed to get accustomed to, which isn't entirely a negative thing. I'm still iffy regarding the behind the curtains of the "working" part and many aspects are unclear and vague, not to mention I can't predict a possible clear direction to the plot, yes, the final goal is set, but everything else is a big question mark, but then again, I guess the that's a good thing. The fist part was kind of slow and generic: find one Nephilim, recruit, then another, etc. Luckily, there weren't too many for it to become too troublesome and repetitive. From the other side, considering that they need an "army" of Nephilim on their side, then the amount they manage to recruit is too minimal. But who knows how that will work out. I did, however, miss Kaidan in the first half, since he wasn't featured a lot (when he was, then he definitely made it memorable), but it turned out to be a welcome torture, because when he became a constant player again, it was just that much sweeter and exciting. I wasn't totally appalled by the love triangle, it served its purpose and the end result was clear from book one. I liked how the author made this clear and didn't leave the other "loosing" guy hanging and come across as just inserted to fill the position of "the second love interest" so that there isn't only one main guy for readers to swoon over. I also have to mention that I loved loved loved the degree of intensity in some of the scenes with Anna and Kaidan, quite bold and explicit yet still tasteful and exciting. They had great chemistry and some sexy steamy scenes. Characters: Anna: I have mixed feelings for her. She is a bold heroine who does what is needed without whining, even if she's totally against it, yet she comes across too goody goody even while being "bad", if that makes sense. There is something I can't fully understand about her, but if there would be anything that would make me like and respect her, it would be the fact that she isn't defined by Kaidan. Yes, she loves and misses him, but she isn't desperate or pathetic for him. She can function well without him being around. Kaidan: What can I say, he made some stupid choices as to not hurt others and torture himself, but in the end he couldn't fight a battle he was going to lose anyway, thus, he made the right choice to stop pretending and making a martyr of himself for the sake of others. I respect him for being bold. It's no secret that I like him a lot, flaws included. Overall: All in all, I have a lot of conflicting feelings for this second book, which all aren't only on the negative side. Nevertheless, I enjoyed every page of this installment and will anticipate the third and final book.

Couldn't put it down
Just as good as the first! Loved getting to see more of the Neph, even ones from outside the crew. A little less emotional than the last but still gets those feels going. Lots of sneaking around, making plans and watching their backs. Overall a great read!

Not much can go wrong in a book. But ...
Not much can go wrong in a book. But gives me a feeling that this is not a legit copy looking at the cover page. I so hope that it is. Because if I wanted a pirated copy, I could have bought it at any road side vendor. Well, cant say looking at the cover though.

A real page turner
This book is an amazing book if you like paranormal books about angels and demons, mixed with a perfect love triangle. And unlike many other second books in a series it was not a let down of the first one. Lots of the Time many series get boring. But this one never fails as a page turner you never get bored and it leaves you wanting more just as the first one.

Die for Kai
Sweet Peril picks up in the months after Sweet Evil and we witness a totally new side to Anna. Forced to work, in order to keep up appearances, she has become quite the party girl, the lifeblood of her school social scene. Anna still pines for Kaidan Rowe though he won't have anything to do with her. It's heart-breaking, even though you know he is only staying away because he thinks it's the right thing to do. He crops up in a few minor scenes in the first half of the book but I missed him terribly, and I was so happy when I kicked into the second half of the story and he was a regular feature. The first part of the book is largely taken up with Kope and Anna jet-setting around the world to gather more allies. The prophecy has been revealed and the Neph finally have a chance at reclaiming their lives and ridding the world of all demons. It's not without danger and they need to stay one step ahead of the Dukes at all times. We learn more about the other Nephs in this book and I particularly warmed to Blake (he's a riot) and Marna (she's a sweetheart). The family connection is still strong, which I love, although I was shocked at her dad's actions. Surely a man who has spent years pining for his true love wouldn't do that to his own daughter?! When Kaidan and Anna finally open their hearts to one another I felt like getting up and dancing a jig! Yay! Sorry, but I didn't feel any compassion for Kope, nice guy, but he was never going to get the girl. All in all another fantastic read from Wendy Higgins - accomplished writing, brilliant execution. The only issue I have now is that Kaidan Rowe is pushing for a No. 1 spot on my book boyfriend list. It's starting to get real competitive at the top and I don't know how I'm going to choose. (It's not like I can bump Edward, Aiden St. Delphi or Roth off the podium.)Nice dilemma! He! he!
