Easy Project, Cool Learning Toy
This is the second soldering project Iโve done, and if the components can survive my inept early attempts, it should be forgiving enough for any beginner. It includes a simple instruction sheet with a couple of assembly tips, Plus some educational information to explain what the gizmo does, and what that means. Iโve done one simple project before this (RGB light demo with sliders), and wanted to do another easy one before taking on the nifty clear radio project I have sitting on my workbench. This practice kit was a good choice! Some of what learned: - Tape the components on from the front, then flip it and solder them in place. - Use more flux. - Use a higher temperature for less time. Iโm surprised I didnโt melt the first couple of LEDs, but they survived unharmed. - Use solder wick to remove excess that was in danger of shorting out the leads of an LED. It worked on the first try, and now I have a handy little demonstrator of voltage drops across various resistors. By the way, the tiny surface-mount resistors come pre-installed. You donโt have to do that on this project โ just the DIP switches, LEDs, and USB-C connector, plus installing the four standoffs that act as feet. Iโm going to use the finished product to gain proficiency with my multimeter, too. There are eight different resistors, each with their value listed right on the board, so you can check reading the ohms across those, and check the voltage drop across each one. Bonus! For those of us who finished school before STEM was a thing, this is a lot of learning experience in a small package, and for a very low price. Thoughtfully designed, well documented, and fun for any age.

Easy kit, good for beginners
While there were no printed instructions included in the kit, its easy enough to put together that isn't really issue (just remember the longer leg on the LEDs are positive). One light was missing from the kit I ordered though. Good for a beginner's first or second project overall.

AVOID. This kit does not work.
Listen to the negative reviews. It is simply non-functional. An absolute waste of time and money that should frankly be treated as the scam it is and be unlisted.

Power port requires particular cable.
Supplied metal USB-C connection port, does not conduct power from any of my USB-C chargers. Tested port using VOM and have ordered replacement ports. I'll update this review, once replacement is installed. 12/28/2025 update: My mistake, original power configuration works fine if/when using cable with type-A on one end and type-C on the other. Changing rating to 5 stars. Replacement parts were unneeded.

No way to power it.
Looks like a good easy kit. But not sure if the power port was meant to be included or already attached but I don't have any way of powering it. As mine is missing the power port.
