So are these strings 41in or 51in?

41 inches. The strings work great for my son but I did not like the fact that the colors are mixed up, they are not separated like the picture shows, and the finger wraps fall apart easily.

i just learned the reason polyester string breaks so easy, the friction of the spinning yoyo melts it. is this true?

I've bought both kinds. It happens to the best of us. It's called string tension. And, I'm not as good as most. Even the pro's have this issue. Especially, when you try the Helix, Tornado. Or, as it's now called. The DNA. If you try this. Throw it the other direction. I have only had one string failure. It was with polyester. Unresponsive Yo-yo is the culprit.
