MDH Chana Masala 100g

Order received in good shape and on time. I am just starting to experiment with new Indian flavors and this blend is a lovely, and lively combination.

Delicious! However, I would recommend NOT ordering with any heavy items. I ordered mine at the same time as a bottle of mouth wash and it arrived packaged with the MDH, which got pulverized. Upon opening, the entire package of spice poured out of the box and onto the floor! I ordered a second box and loved the dish!

A great spice mix! I bought it to make a Chana Masala recipe and it tuned out wonderful. The spices seemed very fresh. I was surprised to see that the item came directly from India. It came in a small box, which was packaged with great care - there were several pieces of Styrofoam, bubble wrap and tape around the box :) It was a bit funny, knowing that that the item within was really not that fragile. It took a little while for it to get here, but it was worth the wait. I highly recommend the product and will be ordering more in the future.

I used to live in Southern California and was able to purchase this same pre-mixed Chana Masala spice packet from a nearby grocer. I have since moved to Florida and we don't have the same accessibility to foods from south east Asia in our neck of the woods as we did in California. I used to make huge pots of chana masala, serve it with naan (also purchased from the same grocer), and have the neighbors over. I think oaky Chardonnays go well with chana masala. So I was craving this experience one Sunday afternoon here in humid Florida. I ordered the spice and it arrived on a Thursday. I went to Publix and bought a ton of red onions, tomatoes, butter, and naan (yeah, I was surprised that they had naan, too). The dish I made did not come out the same. It could be user error--perhaps I lost the touch. But I also remember this spice packet being hotter, with more vibrant flavors. It didn't taste bad, but it wasn't what I expected either.

So easy to use. I used the recipe on the box but substituted a 28 oz can of whole tomatoes with juice for two chopped tomatoes and used less water. We live far from an Indian restaurant. This little box is a game changer for us! The depth of flavor as it cooks is amazing. It’s got a little kick to it, which I love. Buy with confidence and enjoy!

Trying to increase beans in my diet and this helps a ton. I meal prep using the following: Sautee 1 large onion and 2 Serrano peppers until brown. Add one 15 oz can crushed tomatoes (I used fire roasted). Add 40 g MDH seasoning and big pinch of salt. Simmer for 5 min then blend with an immersion blender. Add in 2 cans of chickpeas (drained & rinsed). Simmer for 15-20 min. Makes 4-6 servings. Serve with basmati rice. Delicious!

My favorite Indian seasoning brand

It's a tasty blend of spices, but it has a lot more hot pepper than other mixes I've tried. Not a problem for chile-heads like me, but by the time I get as much spice flavor as I want, this stuff has turned the gravy into enough of a capsaicin bomb that it makes tears well up in the eyes of my only moderately heat-tolerant husband.
