Use only light pressure, otherwise the reverse-direction tines are prone to breaking off. Use a manual wire brush as well. **Q: Will this take the paint off my old wood deck** A: It's metal and might be hard on the wood and make surface uneven. You would probably have to sand it to take out pits. I would use a product made for removing paint. **Q: i have found it to gouge the moulding on my door frame, could this be because i am using to much pressure?** A: You probably shouldn't use it on soft wood, as the tines will chip or dent it. This newer model has tines that face in both directions, which means that you are always going to have some that are going to try to penetrate the surface of whatever you are using it on. I haven't seen any lately, but if you can find one with the tines all facing the same direction, you'll have much more control over the finish. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great within its limits. *by S***T on July 28, 2017* I had one of these years ago that I used for stripping paint. This one works just as well with one caveat; it cannot be used with old, heavy layers of old paint. Too be fair the paint I was removing had its first layer in 1946 with probably 8-10 subsequent layers. It works great for stripping rust and one or two layers of paint so I have no qualms recommending it for those purposes. ### ⭐ THis product was a waste of my time and money *by D***C on October 1, 2017* I bought the RotoStrip to help strip a layer of latex paint from my basement walls to help prep for waterproofing my walls. Just one layer of paint. THis product was a waste of my time and money. Very poor results. Instructions say to let the tins lightly scrape the surface or the the tines will bend or break. Hey guys, I wish I could get my money back on this one. Don't waste your time buying this thing. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ OMG the paint and rust flies off! *by A***T on September 4, 2017* OMG the paint flies off. I'd be careful on wood, I am using it on a steel tractor that I am painting and it works great. Albeit, it will have a limited life as the tines do wear down.
