No hole. Mine stays on my cutting table so never noticed but it would need to lie flat. I didn't think there would be much of a difference, but I was wrong! The color of this Creative Grids mat makes seeing the fabric and the ruler markers easier. The material of the mat makes it really easy to cut through fabric.
