I added just a tiny little sprinkle on both layers of our little cat scratch box, hoping to get our cats to attention to it, instead of our furniture. So far it's working. I do know I'll have to add more than a sprinkle to keep them interested, but a sprinkle did get their attention. To hold it for a longer period of time, or to get them coming back for more, then I will need to add more -- this is a good thing, this means this product doesn't hang around. My cats aren't going to be rolling all over it, all day long like they're addicted. The smell for "us mere humans" reminds me of oregano with a little punch of something else. I personally wouldn't want to breath it in all day, but I'm not a cat. I think it's a great value for the amount of nip you're getting and it's not thick at all. But has been processed as what you'd find in your dried oregano section of the spice/herb aisle. The packaging arrived with safety plastic around the lid, which when torn off, you then have a second layer of safety - by a sealed paper label, you'll need to remove.
