Connecting 1-1/2" thick stock, so I'm setting the depth slider at 1-1/2" and then adjusting the drill bit collar using the provided spacer card. My Kreg pocket hole jig says that I should use 2-1/4" screws for this thickness of wood. The result is screws that protrude about 1" out the side of my workpiece. Am I missing something? **Q: Has the tolerance issue with the guides been addressed on the newly manufactured jigs?** A: I, personally, never experienced tolerance issues with this jig. Thus, if I have a, new model, the issue is resolved. Or, the tolerance issue was something of an aberration or it is a possibility some users were not accurately checking their bit sizes. Many users, sad to say, use metric sizes v SAE and this can certainly cause tolerance issues. **Q: What kind of metal?** A: Aluminum with steel inserts.
