It is medium firm, we sink in but only a couple of inches, the lower levels of foam are firm. The mattress can get hot at night, we're considering getting a cooling mattress pad for warmer months. The mattress raised to full height within an hour of setting it up. There was no severe odor that we were unable to sleep on it that first night. We are strongly considering purchasing twin mattresses for our daughters next month and we know numerous couples that have "tested out" our mattress that are considering the purchase as well. We would buy it again in a heartbeat, and do recommend it to others.***Update***It's been over 6 months later, this mattress is the best ever!!! My hips and back no longer hurt, I'm not stiff when I get up. My husband and I sleep in the same position all night with no tossing and turning and no pressure points. I don't get that sinking feeling !!! Next time I would definitely go for a more plush mattress from somewhere else !!!Also the king bed measure 2" short in length !!! Idk if thats a defect or a product of the foam !
