It's durable, it adheres well with adequate surface prep, and it does in fact keep the shoes going. Surface prep is important: I always clean the area to be covered with a cloth and isopropyl alcohol, then let it dry before applying. Shoe GOO is *sticky* and can be messy. I apply in small areas only. I've found the absolute best way to shape it is to put on the amount I need, then smooth it with a well-licked finger. ShoeGOO doesn't stick to saliva. (I know, yuck, right? But it works.) With these tricks, it's easy to get a useful layer where you want it. My biggest gripe was that the original, clear ShoeGOO turned brownish-yellow and looked bad. This new BLACK version addresses my biggest gripe.

**Q: What's the shelf life for a tube? I'm planning to keep it at home for emergencies.**
A: Not sure of total shelf life, but I've had a tube OPEN for a couple of months now and it still works fine.I just make sure the opening is clear of glue so the cap doesn't stick and all is good.

**Q: Does this only work for certain parts of the shoes or I can put it anywhere and does it leave a residue?**
A: BLACK: one I bought was black as tar. I did not notice the Clear version, which I'd buy in future. Black worked fine for my present use, though.I think the stuff sticks to most anything. It is sticky and black and hard to apply - it just squeezes out of the tube and needs to be spread by toothbrush or other brush or gloved fingers. It is great for rough repair like sole adhesion if you can get at the 2 surfaces needing adhesion. I've stuck pieces of leather together as well. But unless you carefully mask areas not to be marked up, it will leave a mess to greater or lesser extent. I kinda like the mess as it hardens to a nice shiny black finish and on the boots I have used this for, it does not look bad at all. MAYBE you can do fine repair of good stuff; but requires masking, I think. Residue is much like caulking material but jet black and not shot out of a tube or nozzle. So, hard to control. It ended up looking a lot better than the caulk repair used by cobbler prior to my own efforts, though, since I could spread it out nicely to feather out edges, which suited me just fine. These were boots on a second or third life so I did not care at all how they looked. Still holding up to hard use!

**Q: How long does it have to set up, before I can use the shoes again?**
A: i let it sit for a 24 hr period before wearing the shoes again.

**Q: Will it work on felt soles for wading boots?**
A: It did not work for me AT ALL !!

ursprünglich wollte ich damit meine plattentasche "flicken" in meherern layern, wo meine katze sie zerkratzt hat (nylon gewebe). das wäre auch gegangen, aber nachdem ich auf der packung las, dass man nichts damit behandeln soll, was mit kleinkindern oder haustieren in berührung kommt, habe ich es lieber nicht probiert. habe dann einen schuh, dessen sohle quer gebrochen war repariert. ein paar tage/wochen war es ok, dann brauch die sohle dort wieder durch. (plateau sohle von vagabond - vielleicht herrschen da auch einfach zu große hebelkräfte?) ich denke, mal hier und da wird sich verwendung für das produkt finden, aber ich habe mir mehr erwartet, quasi fast schon magie ;) ist einfach ein sehr guter kleber, der furchtbar stinkt.
