Review: Great machine, requires care. - This machine is incredibly easy to use and provides oodles of sprouts as long as you use fresh/new beans. Don’t soak beans as instructed for an hour before putting them in the machine, they’ll get soft, split and won’t sprout. A quick rinse then in the machine works best, for me anyway. Things to know that aren’t in the instructions: it’s made of hard plastic, if you drop the base or tub or tap them on the edge of the sink to remove water drops after washing, the plastic will crack or chip. Nothing that affects usefulness, so far. The water sprinkler head is held together with four screws and it’s an absolute must to take it apart every four or five batches and clean out, it gets nasty inside.

The machine is effective at growing sprouts and I've grown about 6 batches so far...one rotted when I used the "summer" setting...but when I stick to "spring" setting they come out great. As others have noted, they are a bit thin...I'd love to able to get the fat, crispy ones like from commercial growers. But they DO grow and maintain your sprout growth without the hassle of the jar method and with bigger yields. I use the sprouts for stir fries and in my salads and this machine makes it so easy to grow my own! Lastly, I've only grown mung bean sprouts...the broccoli, radish and clover ones were much too small to grow in it (perhaps ill try a paper towel?), which was disappointing, but if mung bean sprouts are what you love, this is fantastic:)
