It works well on both 1/4" long shank bits and 1/4" short shank bits. Insert the bit and then just push it in. The collar snaps down and locks the bit in place. The magnetized holder will help hold screws in the bit. To remove the bit, pull the collar out and it clicks into place. Grab the bit and easily pull it out. Many other bit holders you have to use pliers or have strong fingers to pull out the bit, especially short shank bits. Or, other holders don't hold the bit in tight enough and the bit falls out after you drive the screw and you will be looking on the ground hunting for the bit. Get this bit holder.
