The Invisible Boy [Ludwig, Trudy, Barton, Patrice] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Invisible Boy Review: Meaningful for everyone and a valuable resource for teachers. - You can listen to the story on You Tube if you need convincing that this is a fabulous story, offering lots of opportunities for both social/emotional development and reading strategies. There are opportunities to predict, infer, synthesize, summarize and make connections. Even though I SWORE that I would no longer buy any children's books upon retirement from the classroom, I purchased this one to use as a demonstration of an interactive read aloud for my college students. Highly, highly recommend. Review: wonderful story for grades K-4 - I love this book. I hope it gets to be a classic one of these days. It's all about a quiet little boy who is ignored by his classmates and even his teacher. The creative use of color by the illustrator as the story goes on lends this book to great discussions about reality vs. fantasy--"Is the little boy really invisible?" what it means to be invisible and how we treat each other. Every time I read it to classrooms in K-4, I get quite the emotional responses from kids, and they are captivated by this story. It's beautifully written and illustrated. (Retired special ed teacher)

Great for encouraging inclusion!
My 4 year olds preschool class kept leaving certain friends out when they played. We read this book and it helped him to imagine when that happens it makes the other friend feel “invisible” like in the book! Highly recommend. It is great for ages 4-10! I enjoyed it too!

Such a sweet story with an important message
This story is almost heartbreaking in it's realistic portrayal of a small boy whom nobody sees. As a young child, I often tried to make myself invisible, but it was always so nice when someone actually noticed me in a kind way. My 5-yr old loves how the color of the illustrations goes from black and white to color as the boy makes a friend and you're definitely rooting for this kid the whole time. Very sweet and well-written/illustrated. I highly recommend!

Sweet, realistic story
This is a sweet book in which the kids seem very “real” to me and to our 6-year-old. Rather than discussing the stereotypical bullying in which one kid beats up another one, it addresses the probably more common issue of someone just being left out and ignored, not picked for teams at recess, not talked to at lunch...you get the idea—and how one other kid’s kindness can make a huge difference. The kids acted like real kids— clearly the author knows how kids act and think. And it teaches the lesson without being preachy. Our little guy really enjoyed it.

Kindness matters
I loved how this little boy, who was usually excluded from games and such made anew kid feel welcomed right from the beginning. Also, when another child tried to engage the new kid in play, the new kid didn't forget the kindness the "invisible" boy showed him, and wanted to include him before he agreed to go with the other child.
