A MUST HAVE SWITCH ADD-ON
A week ago, I traded things in for an OLED but hated the joycons (like most do). I did a ton of research but these controllers...a game changer. Sure, they're not wireless or have vibration but that was ok for me. What I needed is a controller that feels and looks great. To me, when you hold it in your hands, feels like a Xbox controller which is great. The joysticks on here are a dream, buttons are very nice and triggers/bumpers are amazing too. I will say, when these controllers are connected, it makes the Switch HUGE in length but the good thing is that these controllers weigh pretty much nothing and are very easy to play with. Now, these come with a controller bridge so if you connect both controllers to the black wired piece they give you, it turns it into a very nice full size controller that plugs into the dock itself and has additional buttons/headphone jack too. These controllers do feed power from the system itself but you can still enjoy hours of gameplay in handheld mode. In my honest opinion, this is the best controller I've used ...ever. Well worth the $67 price that I paid. I wouldn't mind paying $100 for these actually. Be sure to get a hard protective case for these as they make cases that fit the Split Pad Pro's like these. Note: This is my own review of these controllers and HORI did not send these to me.

Best for L to XXL hands
I lift a lot so my hands are big. Had to ask chatgpt to find me something that I can handheld and use as a controller when docked. Got this one. It work wonders. Wouldn't mind buying a second one soon

Necessity for larger hands
I was looking for a controller to add to my switch collection that actually fit my hands, as long periods of use end up with painful and cramps, and this is the solution. If you also have larger sized hands, you need to get these as they are so much more comfortable. Sure, you do lose the motion tracking from the original controllers, but with the joycons, that’s at the expense of comfort. I end up choosing these every time over the joycons. The buttons and joysticks feel premium, and have a great feel in the hand. I would recommend these to any of my friends, including you.

A handy alternative, if you are good with the features
I bought these to replace another Hori split pad set, which lasted 6 years until they met an untimely demise (sheared off after a kid dropped my switch down a flight of stairs...) This version comes with a wired USB dongle that they can dock into, turning them into a wired USB controller for the switch. Worth noting: when the controllers are attached directly to the switch, they present as JOY-CONS. When they are attached to the wired adapter, they present as a USB GAMEPAD. This matters for some types of games that don't support gamepads. The added versatility is nice, because many third-party options show as gamepads regardless of how they attach to the Switch. The controls are decent for a third-party product. They won't match Nintendo, but they are good enough. They feel comfortable for larger hands, and my kids prefer them over the original joy-cons. The biggest downside to this unit, are the number of features left on the table: no gyro, no rumble, and no power of their own (must be attached to the switch or the gamepad dongle). If a game requires detached joy-cons or gyro controls, these won't work for you. That said, they are one of the few third-party options that properly present as joy-cons when docked into the switch. All of these third-party options make compromises to hit a competitive price, and you will have to decide which compromises make sense to you.

Improved comfort
This feels like a substantial upgrade for playing Switch games in portable mode. The buttons are bigger, the joysticks are bigger, the D pad feels comfortable, and the added paddles on the back are handy. It also has a turbo and autofire setting for buttons. This is exactly what I wished the joycons were. Potential drawbacks are no rumble, amiibo or gyro features are included with the splitpad. Also, I haven't found a way to test it but I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that the bigger analogue sticks make them more precise. Safe to assume that at best they are just as good as the Pro Controller that Nintendo makes however even those sticks have a shorter range measurement than say an Xbox controller. You can test this on PC in Steam with the analogue stick calibration settings. None of that matters to me though. This is the best way to play the Switch in portable mode in my opinion. I wouldn't even consider getting a Switch 2 until Hori makes a version of these for it. I'm just not a fan of the joycons, they are way too small.

Light weight
Really like this, perfect for my switch and good size for small hands with arthritis.

Overpriced for what it offers
Don’t get me wrong, it’s comfortable and works well when attached to the Switch in handheld mode. However, I find it extremely overpriced for several reasons: Plastic quality. You can actually see through parts of it. (Not a huge deal, honestly.) No button remapping. You have to use it as-is; there’s no way to customize or remap the buttons. No wireless functionality. This is my biggest complaint. For the price, you would expect both wireless and wired options, but that’s not the case. If it’s not attached to the Switch, you have to play wired—and it doesn’t even use USB-C, only USB-A (the rectangular one). There are other controllers that offer a much better wireless and wired experience, with all the features you’d expect for comfort and customization, and they cost about half the price. Likewise, there are cheaper options that provide a better handheld experience for the Switch, again at roughly half the cost. Overall, this is an overpriced device that delivers a good handheld experience but a mediocre docked experience. Not worth the $70 plus taxes it costs! A better deal would be $40, and get rid of hard wired thing and make it optional, like wireless or plug and play.

This is amazing. Huge upgrade from Joy-Cons. Joy-cons feel finicky and cheap, more like toys. These are robust and comfortable in hand. The analog sticks are also much bigger and feel more accurate. The buttons are nice and clicky and it's nice to be able to connect it in docked mode.

Since it has almost no feature at all (no Bluetooth, no rumble, no gyro, no nfc and it’s made of cheap plastic) it must be priced at most the half of the offered price. 3 STARS for one for the most overpriced joysticks in the market is so fair I believe…
