Review: Better then others!!! - Love this product! And way cheaper then $40 each the gas company was going to charge me! The ceramic piece makes it soooo easy to install! Simply slide it onto the gas outlet and slightly twist it to hold in place! It was super easy to light them with one of those long handle lighters and then just adjust the gas to how bright you want them. At first I didn’t know the brightness was adjustable and turned the gas up all the way. These mantles were so bright it literally was brighter then the street lights. My entire front yard was lit up! They stayed on during a storm and snow so far. The last set which was the same brand just 4 times the price from the gas company lasted me over 2 years...guess I’ll see if they last as long this time! Either way it’s a great product...easy to install...works great and for a great price! Will always reorder it!!!!

I have a gas light in our front yard. For years I bought the mantles from our gas company, happy to find alternatives to that on Amazon and a much better value. I bought these (preformed) mantles because I thought they might provide more light. In my lamp, I have 2 posts (side by side). I installed 1 preformed mantel and 1 (#254) soft form mantel, so that I could compare them side by side and compare the longevity. In looking at the light that they both put off, (my very unscientific, but reasonable) comparison, I cannot tell much, if ANY difference. The preformed is easier to install, because you do not have to light it and and let it burn off. However, I look for value in my purchases and the more than double the cost of the Soft form DOES NOT JUSTIFY the cost difference. However, I will put this out there, I am going to watch these and compare the longevity to see, but at this point, I will not spend the 2x premium for these mantels in the future. To be clear, I am not at all unhappy, I just do do think they deliver on the promise for more than 2x the cost. UPDATE 60 days later- NOW changing review to 1 stars, this mantle, that cost 2x the standard one, is not only VERY VERY slightly brighter, NOW IT shattered and had to be replaced. Now when I look at 2x the cost, VERY LITTLE extra light and 60 days of life, this is TOTALLY NOT WORTH THE MONEY TO ME. I would NOT recommend these at all.
