GREAT tool. Absolutely fits the cheapo Harbor Freight grinders.
Mine is the black 4.3 amp Drillmaster 4-1/2" angle grinder and I had no trouble attaching this dust shroud. I was actually very impressed with the solid build of this thing despite the low price, and AMAZED by how well it worked. Practically eliminates dust completely. I purchased a different (and much more expensive) shroud previously and returned it immediately because I wasn't able to fasten it solidly to my grinder. No such trouble with this one. A few important observations I made: - "Universal" doesn't mean "no adjustment required." You might have to tinker with it to get everything right, so be patient. These are dangerous, high-speed tools. Take your time. - Don't try to just use the clamp arm to get a tight fit. That will get it snug, but then you have to tighten it fully with a metric socket. Once I did that, the shroud never wobbled once. - Setting the shroud so the bristles just barely extend past the surface of your grinding cup is critical. If your cup extends past the bristles, it will allow the dust to escape. There is some minor up/down adjustment possible with the shroud itself on the grinder's collar, but not much, so the height of the cup you have is important. I see some reviewers using nice DeWalt cups that seemed to be the right height. Me? I had the cheapo HFT Warrior brand and at first it was too tall even with the arbor ring removed (the cup extended beyond the shroud's bristles.) So, what I did was cut about a quarter inch or so off the cup's spindle using the angle grinder and a cutoff wheel (also HFT.) There is some stock beyond the threads, so I cut that part off and was still able to fully thread the cup onto the grinder arbor after the modification. After that, I was able to set the shroud to the correct depth and was off to the races. - Opening the hinged red cover on the front will allow you to get closer to a wall (if you're grinding a floor) but not completely flush. It'll get you maybe a half inch away. I found that having that cover open still didn't allow much dust to escape - definitely some, but nowhere near as much as if the shroud was off. - Go slow, make sure you're keeping the cup flat against your surface, and apply slight pressure to keep the shroud's bristles sealed against the surface. If you're doing this indoors, still staple up plastic sheeting and wear a dust mask, because it isn't 100% dustless, but the difference is night and day. Best tool purchase I've made in a long time!

Great product
Great product, worked perfectly! No dust when attached to shop vac

Itโs a sturdy product and designed well
The product is durable and worked well for the task I had. I had to grind about 300 sq ft. Of concrete floor. It captured the dust well although you will and should wear a mask and eye protection. One thing that gave me problems was the hose connection kept coming loose and I would have to stop and fix it. I recommend you spend some time crafting a secure coupling before you begin. The manufacturer need to make a better way to adapt to vacuum hoses and lock in place. I would pay more for that. Note that if this does not fit your grinder, you may need to modify the main clamp ring (make it narrower) so that you can adjust the depth of the shroud. My particular Dewalt 13 amp grinder has a shroud quick release lever that was in the way so I had to improvise.

An Absolute Necessity for Grinding Concrete!
I bought this to do some concrete grinding to repaint areas of our basement floor where the old floor paint had begun delaminating, likely from poor surface prep by the previous owner. Diamond grinding is the ultimate method of surface prep for any concrete surface you will be applying paint or epoxy to. Unfortunately this dust shield did not fit my old Dewalt angle grinder, so I got one of the cheap harbor freight grinders on sale for ten bucks and this fit perfectly on that grinder using one of the included spacers. I also grabbed one of the cheap knockoff dust deputy cyclonic dust separators and what an absolutely amazing result. Literally ZERO dust. I was still expecting some to get by the shroud, or have the superfines make it through my vacuum filter but so far nothing has. Compared to my old method of grinding and after a minute or two not being able to see one foot in front of my face because of all the dust, then allowing it to settle and then vacuum, this is a cakewalk. I can do it indoors with zero ventilation and cant even get a whiff of that usual concrete dust smell that usually lingers in the air for hours. I am also going to use this to resurface my garage floor and epoxy coat, so we'll see how it holds up after 1000sqft of grinding. I'll update if it fails or the bristles wear out prematurely, but so far I'm happier than a pig in mud.

Not tall enough, poor vacuum attachment
The product solidly deserves 3 stars. The performance downsides were too much for me to keep it though. First, the good: - it clamped securely to my old Milwaukee 6095 without any adapter - it seems well constructed and durable enough, especially for the price. I didn't use it long enough to test long term durability. - I liked that you could slide the guard out of the way to grind close up against the wall. Now the bad: - The whole thing is too short in height. My 7" grinding cups are tall enough so that when you put the grinding head on the floor the shroud's bristles don't come close to the floor, meaning they won't catch anything during grinding. I loosened the clamp and was able to pinch it up farther on the grinder neck which helped some, but I could never get the bristles to reach the floor when the grinding cup was touching the floor. This means it would catch SOME dust but a lot of it flew away right under the bristles. It's better than nothing but could be much better. - The port to attach the vacuum hose seems like a weird size. Maybe it's just my vacuum (1.25" hose) but the end of my vacuum hose was the exact same inner and outer diameter as the port on the shroud. So the only way I could connect them was to use the supplied adapter to VERY LOOSELY connect the two hoses, then I taped everything together to keep the hose from disconnecting. It worked well, but it's janky and of course a pain to connect/disconnect whenever you start and end the job.

if it works it would be great otherwise it is a great frustration
a lot of issues with this tool that make it completely unusable even though you put a lot of effort and fight to make it work. due to the brushes around the shroud increase the thickness so that grinding wheel sit higher from the ground. depend upon the wheel thickness you need a little shimming if you can find a correct washers for shimming. I went to hardware store and bought a few and non worked so ended up using with no shimming but angle and push down the grinder which requires more effort also some adjustment for yourself to grind correct amount of surface. otherwise it dig in and scrapes much more than you would want. I wish the package includes a few shimming washers since 8-9 out of 10 people would need it with their tools second and biggest annoyance is the vacuum hose fitting. if you don't have the right shopvac with a hose in right diameter this tool is useless. Both of my shopvacs didn't fit to shroud tight and securely not matter what I did, including using some zip ties. as grinding in circular motion hose get lose and disconnected from the shroud and all of the dust goes every where. I wasted a lot of time to get the hose back on and secure but no avail and meanwhile all the concrete dust was all over the place. If I didn't buy and use this shroud I could have goten job done much faster. If you shopvac hose fits secure than this tool get the job done. But vendor does not include any hose fitting adapters which would 't cost more than a few bucks but it is not included in. so if you don't have right shopvac you also need to buy a shopvac. it was very frustrating experience for me.

Good value
Mounted well to my Craftsman angle grinder. The shroud has worked so far grinding the concrete surface of a 2 car garage.

Worked well
I used this dust shroud on a Ryobi angle grinder. It was easy to remove the standard shroud and install the dust shroud. Adapters of several sizes made a custom fit in a couple minutes. It's important to adjust the height of the shroud so the bristle ends are planer with the surface of the bit. The shroud is rated for bits of 4- to 5-inches diameter. I used a 4.5 inch diamond cup bit. No problems. The shroud has a section at the front that can be rotated to the left, allowing the bit to work up close to edges. With the gate open there was some dust and particle spatter. With the gate closed there was no discernible dust. I used a Festool MIDI dust extractor on maximum suction. The gate stayed closed when it should. It opened a little stiffly, which probably helped it stay closed the rest of the time. When working against an obstruction, movement of the tool from let to right may nudge the gate open. Keep an eye on that, or work from right to left. The tool included an adapter to help with the usual nightmare of getting hoses and tools to fit together. With my Festool hose the adapter was not helpful. I solved the problem by using a piece of clear tubing from a big box store. The inner diameter of the tubing was 1-1/4 inches (32 mm). The end of the Festool hose is a little larger, 35 mm. To achieve a snug fit I soaked the bottom three inches of the clear tube in boiling hot water for a couple minutes, then stretched it over the top of an empty wine bottle where the neck curved smoothly outward. After cooling slightly the tubing maintained shape and fit snugly on the Festool hose. The unstretched end fit snugly on the outside of the shroud's dust port. In operation they did not pop apart, not even once. They also detached with just a bit of effort. I only needed six inches of the clear tubing so there's plenty left to try this trick on another tool. I thought about subtracting one star for the annoyance of getting the shroud to fit my dust extraction tools but in the end it worked so well that I have to give it five full stars. Frankly I was astonished, and quite pleased, at how well the shroud contained virtually all the dust created by the diamond bit. My impression was that 99% of dust and larger particles were contained by the shroud and sucked into the vacuum.
