Do I have to buy the seed and water bowls, perches, etc.?** A: the cage comes with 8 seed or water cup. i use only 2 and save the others to switch out when i wash the ones in use.it comes with 6 wooden perches, 2 ladders and 2 wire platforms which i connected with the ladders so Girlie can climb. i only have 1 conure so she has lots of room to climb and explore. the cups are plastic but they are very thick and good quality. they also hold a lot of seeds and water **Q: How far apart are the bars? Is the spacing really 4/10ths of an inch?** A: Don't know exact measurement but was perfect for the 3 small parakeets I owned. **Q: Can 2 cages be connected?** A: The manufacturer has not made a way to connect two cages together. I happen to have two cages and if you were clever you could probably figure out a way. For instance there are side feeder doors that slide up you could remove and put the cage side to side. But because the base has a half an inch extension on each side you would have to either remove the base or make up for approximately 1 inch of space opening between the two side doors. Perhaps you could make some sort of a hallway into the other cage this way with a little bit of ingenuity. Otherwise I'm not sure how you would do it unless you put them face to face and removed one of the doors. You would then have to pull them apart and put them together each time you clean the cages. I was looking for a sturdy bird cage that was roomy for my budgies and I believe I found the perfect one. It was relatively easy to put together. I did notice some bent parts, but I was able to push them back in place. The size is big, it’s plenty of space for my two budgies. I may just buy two more now that I have more room for them.
