Five Stars
I really like this charm square book! First, I have to admit to being a charm square collector! I just love these little squares with all the different prints and colors. But I had to stop, I had boxes of them and wasn't sure exactly how I would use them. I didn't want to make an ordinary quilt with the squares all lined up one after another, but I didn't want to make a very time consuming one either, with all the bells and whistles. This book was the solution! There are 18 quilts here, every one very nice. The first one I tried was "Railroad Crossing" on page 30. Extremely simple! And truly delightful when all put together and quilted. Next came Tipsy, page 110. I have made a tipsy quilt or two in the past and found them to be so much fun! You can do anything with this pattern, use any cute print in the middle square of the block. Once I used monkeys in trees and a jungle print for the star points. It was adorable. It may look a bit tricky to beginners, but the steps are laid out clearly and if you follow them one by one carefully, you'll find it's really fairly easy. This book is subtitled "A Beginner's Guide" and I think that's pretty accurate. But old timers will find it to be just as useful. There are a couple of others I'm going to start on soon. On page 76 there's one called Rock Star that uses lots of half square triangles. Great to practice that technique and beautiful when finished. Another is so beautiful. I'm just dying to get to it. Madame Butterfly page 66. A bit more challenging, I think, with many parts. But SO worth it. Delicate and sweet. Any girl of any age would love it. I guess you can see why I gave this five stars. It's one of my favorite quilt pattern/instruction books. I feel sure you'll love it too.

LOVE!!!
This is an amazing book. Vanessa Goertzen is a lovely person and Iโve always admired and swooned over her fabric lines and patterns and this doesnโt disappointment! Itโs aesthetically pleasing with charming illustrations and beautiful photography. Reading through it it seems beginner friendly but it does assume one has basic knowledge but directions seem clear and concise especially when matched with the illustrations. And honestly, that is uses precuts, in this case charm packs, makes it beginner friendly to my mind...it takes away the sometimes tedious and difficult job of cutting (even though I thoroughly enjoy cutting fabric) There is definitely something for everyone and I feel the patterns and style of the book will hold their value and be relevant for years to come. Further, using precuts offers the ability to use the full range of a fabric collection so it should be assumed that these patterns are scrappy. I know some donโt like that but everything can be adjusted and suited to the individual. One can easily cut 5โ squares from his/her specifically chosen fabric just as easily leading into my Addressing the complaint that most (pretty much all) use more than one charm pack...I understand that personโs complaint but it should go without saying that the amount of fabric in a charm pack just canโt make larger sized quilts. I would suggest possibly getting at least 2 of your favorites or adding in solids or even going with a layer cakke one can cut into the the equivalent of four charm packs. There are always options. Just enjoy!

Great book! Quilts for beginner to advanced skills.
This book has wonderful, creative patterns from beginner to advanced. The patterns use multiple packs of 5โ squares/fat quarters as well as additional background yardage. For those of us who have a fabric stash thatโs not a problem. For some people this could be a negative. Thatโs why I rated it four stars. Instructions were easy to follow. Lots of different techniques for the advanced quilter. Good instructional pictures. I have the book on my Kindle and realize that the actual book would be much better. I find that it is difficult to follow a pattern on a Kindle. Spend the extra money on the book itself!

Great charm quilts
The patterns start out simple and slowly get more complex. Good book for beginners and complex enough for more advanced quilters.

Best book on Charms
I have several books on using precuts but this s the best. Generally Iโll buy a book for 1 pattern but this book has several that I want to make. The instructions are clear and Iโve already started on one. Another nice feature is that cutting instructions are provided for fat quarters and yardage if you donโt have charm packs. Definitely time to start using some of the charms Iโve accumulated.
