![Forrest Gump [Blu-ray]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71joMEcXRzL.jpg)

The title character leads viewers through an accidental travelogue of U.S. social history from the early 1960s through the present in this revisionist fable. Vietnam, desegregation, Watergate, and more are presented from the perspective of loveably slow-witted Forrest Gump as he finds himself embroiled in situations he can't quite comprehend. One of the best movies
What an amazing movies, phenomenal story with a phenomenal character. Tom Hank, one of the great actors has come up with another scintillating act, breathtaking performance, so natural, poise and realistic. “Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you’re gonna get” I don’t think any other actor would be able to live up to this performance, seems to me like it was made only for Tom Hank. That setting in a country side reminds me of my early childhood days in the village. What a magical movies. Love it.

Still a masterpiece after 2 decades. Maybe the best example of Zemeckis art and talent
First of all the blu ray edition is excellent, full of extras and with an accurate HD transfer. About the film, well, after 20 years I still think it is a smart and magnificent example of what American cinema was able to produce until some decades ago: a multilayered and universal masterpiece where everyone can enjoy it according to his own point of view and approach, no matter if just as a emotional and unpredictable, bizarre and funny love story throughout the decades or a more subtle and complex trip through the contraddiction of America and its dream and values. At the end of the day, you can think it's the statement of a liberal director who admits his own side defeat, or a conservative point of view about good old values always surviving to the storms of Histories. To me it is an existential yet genially direct and clear portray of the way life and world goes. Maybe Tom Hanks most stunning performance and a vivid example of Zemeckis' talent. A guy who can master and try every genre, hiding his vision behind a magical storytelling and always a step ahead of times when it comes to special fx and a wise, cinematic way to use them without ever showing off (see also his work on Contact, where the best fx are basically invisible).

"and do you know i could run like the wind"
This superb film is the definition of irony, this film has it all through. Forrest Gump a man with learning difficulties, who is gentle, kind and loyal, traits that are not universally found in people. He first came across the other all too common adverse side of the human character cruelty; when alighting on the school bus for the first time - this seats taken - it's taken - this seats taken. Until after walking the gauntlet, while wearing callipers strapped to his legs, a compassionate voice said "you can sit here if you want". She was to become his lifelong friend Jenny. Fate bestowed on him another gift, after being taunted and pelted with stones, Jenny shouted "run Forrest run". [Forrest] "And do you know - I could run like the wind", (callipers flying off ). His running took him through college; they had to stop him - after scoring a touchdown - running out of the end zone and straight out of the stadium. Then Into Vietnam he meets Buba who becomes his good friend, and the compassionate street wise and dry Lieutenant Dan. Their unit gets ambushed, Forrest's automatic supreme act of heroism and selflessness, he extracts his fellow comrades. Forrest was awarded America's highest medal for valour and courage. The Medal of Honour - and could not have gone to a more deserving man. It was well suited in Forrest. He later meets up with Lieutenant Dan, whose life is transformed from cynical depressive, to reconciliation with life, and life was worth living through his friendship in Forrest. Smile when you see the situations he gets himself into. Feel empathy and sorrow when he's cruelly treated. If you have a heart of granite this film will not affect you. If you have a trace of humility - it will get you where it really counts, right in the heart. The music set to the film was outstanding. Stella acting and great scene performances from Gary Sinese - Lt Dan Taylor, Mykelti Williamson - Bubba and Tom Hanks Brilliant very moving film
