Simple and effective dimmer, great for basic 12V setups
Picked up this VIPMOON 12V/24V LED dimmer to control some LED strip lighting, and it’s been a straightforward little addition that does exactly what it’s meant to. Installation was easy enough. It’s just a case of wiring it inline between the power source and the LEDs, so if you’ve done any basic 12V wiring (car, camper, or home LED strips), you’ll have no issues. I used it on a small LED setup and had it running within minutes. The dimming itself is smooth and responsive. You can adjust brightness gradually rather than just having a few preset levels, which makes a big difference if you’re trying to get the lighting just right. No noticeable flickering on my setup either, which is always a good sign with cheaper dimmers. Build quality is decent for the price. It’s lightweight and compact, so easy to tuck away, though it doesn’t feel like something you’d want exposed to rough conditions or heavy use without protection. Pros ✔ Very easy to install (simple inline wiring) ✔ Smooth brightness control with no flicker ✔ Works with both 12V and 24V systems ✔ Compact and easy to hide Cons ✘ Basic build quality, not waterproof ✘ No mounting options included ✘ Might not handle higher load setups as well Overall A reliable little dimmer that’s perfect for LED strips in cars, campers, or DIY lighting setups. Great for everyday use, just keep it protected and don’t expect heavy-duty performance.

Absolutely great
I used this for a small 12VDC off-grid system. I wired up about 9m of LED strip lighting to the 12V supply through a 10A fuse and then to the dimmer switch. The positive terminal is PWM-modified, while the negative terminal is common to the source and the sink. The terminals are high quality, with either Phillips or flat screwdriver accepted. There is no terminal torque specification so I torqued to 0.7 nM. I used 2.5mm^2 bootlace ferrules on my wiring. When fully bright my LED lighting pulls about 5.25A. All of this went without any hiccup and my only headache was routing the cabling.

Melted whilst still working
I broke the knob and when I went to replace it I found that the plastic casing had melted! The load was a maximum of 36w. This was still operational just the a broken potentiometer - no heat sync on the mosfet where the plastic had melted. Not to mention once you go down the route of wiring your lighting how this switch dictates it leaves you with very few options for replacing with something else!

Good enough for the price
Ordered on 9th Dec, arrived 22nd Dec. Electrically, the centre two connectors are joined internal, and when the device activates it connects the outer two connectors together. The photos show it wired with positive input on the more central connector and the negative input on the edge, which means if you're using it to switch other electronics you'll have to wire it to switch the negative through. It seems to work fine like that though. If you wire it up in reverse it switches the output on all of the time (never goes off). The motion detector is sensitive (can't creep up on it). When power is first applied it activates then switches off if no movement. With the timer turned all the way to minimum it stays on for 90 seconds, not 1 minute as stated. [Edit] Adding that as it's 12V you might be on batteries: with a supply of 12.6V the control circuitry draws 2.5mA when no movement detected and 2.6mA when activated (tested with nothing connected to the output terminals).
