My property is now cat free after 23 yrs of putting up with these cats!
I love the Yard Sentinel for all the cats that the neighbors let run wild in our neighborhood. It took about 2 weeks for all the cats to get the message to stay clear of my property. What was the most fun was watching the cats on my outdoor security cams about 3:00 am take their normal path through my property, until they ran into the yard sentinel, they couldn't get turned around and off my property fast enough. Now the cats don't even try to come on my property, they now walk all the way around and just look at my property, and still go to my neighbors on each side of me. I have mine set for night time only, and on sonic so I can hear it too, that way I know it's working. I love the the 30' A/C power cable that comes with it, so you don't have to worry about changing batteries, it works fine on either, you can also order a 65' power cable if you need one from Aspectek. Do not waste your money or time on the solar type, one cost as much as 2 of these type, and if you have several cloudy days they won't recharge or work at all. Now for the things I dislike. I don't like having to take the back cover off to do any adjusting of the unit when you are trying to get it set up, the alarm is screaming the whole time you are trying to get it back on, the hard plastic cover is really hard to get back on, also one of my units seems to be false triggering a lot when it rains, the other one does not. Update on my previous post. I have now been using my 2 Yard Sentinels for 7 months, and am having trouble with both, both will sometimes have loud volume, and then no volume, but the red light does come on, 1 of my units has now stop working on the electric power supply that comes with it, and will now only work on batteries

Didn’t work on deer or birds
I’ve been trying everything for years now to keep the birds out of my blueberries and the deer from destroying everything in my yard. There is not a spray, scent or decoy that I haven’t used. So I bit the bullet and bought 2 two packs to use in my yard. What I found was that they are easy to setup and seem to be pretty sensitive even at a lowest setting. What that means for you is that unless you’re using the plugin adapter, you’ll need stock in C-cell batteries. Last about three weeks max as the are constantly going off every time anything moves in the yard (leaves, you or anything else). I tried the settings with and without the added screech of a bird which I think would be better if it was a human voice or dog barking, but it was pretty annoying since it was constantly going off in 4 different areas of my yard all day and all night. So how did it work? Well if you consider that deer stood 10’ away from it while it was screeching, creating high pitched noises and a red light and the deer continued to eat my trees and plants. Didn’t bother them in the least. Birds, flew and ate berries on the bushes right in front of it as it was working. Needless to say, for me, they didn’t even bother the pest that I have. Very disappointed that I purchased these and wish that I’d saved my money, but getting really tired of the constant fight and destruction of my property. I live in the country, but near neighbors who feed and cherish the deer, so maybe the only thing left for me personally is the physical removal of the deer as they are nearly tame around here (until hunting season starts then they’re nocturnal), so if you are in the same situation as me, save your money as they are like everything else that just doesn’t work.

Keeps the feral cats away!
Works great! I subtracted a star because the back panel is hard to re-attach.

Two extension cords and how to remove/replace the rear pane
This is a buyer “fyi” more than a review. I just received the two pack of these units and despite my research that indicated 1 AC extension cord in the package, I received two, one for each of the units. Obviously, this provides more options for placement. Also, many complain of difficulty removing the rear panel to access the setting controls, battery box, and AC power connection. I found that if I start by prying up the cover at the bottom of the unit where the slot for the power cord and serial number sticker are, the proceeding to peel the cover up the sides, it comes off quite easily. If you have difficulty when it comes to removing the panel at the top of the unit, wiggle it left to right and back until it pops off completely. Putting it back on is accomplished by repeating this process in reverse. Note that the back panel has a top and bottom also. The last picture shows the orientation of panel to unit as necessary to replace the panel.

Works for a period, but squirrels get used to it.
I ordered two of these - one for the deck and another for the attic. We live in a wooded neighborhood and squirrels are destroying everything. Of course, I can't keep a watch in the attic, but have constantly monitored the one on the deck. It is fairly easy to set up. I am using it in a receptacle so I am not familiar with the use of batteries. It has a plastic cover over the back to protect the settings but the cover does not fit well. It should snap into place, but does not. The unit can be adjusted to a myriad of different noises and the volume can also be adjusted. For the first couple of weeks, it was effective in keeping the squirrels off the deck. After that I started to see a brave one now and then. The instructions say if they get used to it, to change the settings to a different sound. I did that, and once again it kept them at bay. After that I began to have to re-set it every week or so. After two months I am re-setting it every few days and moving it to different locations (very large deck.) The squirrels are becoming less intimidated by it. It is certainly an improvement over the squirrels chewing deck furniture and digging in my flower urns, but it seems like it will require constant management, and if the same thing is going on with the one in the attic, it is useless.

Works perfectly for marmots
I bought this as a last resort to keep marmots from using my deck for a bathroom. I have now had these installed on my deck for a month and have not had a single marmot on the deck since day one. I recommended them to my neighbor and his deck is also now, marmot free. My settings: Operating Time: Day Ultrasonic: Motion Sensor Motion Sensor Sensitivity: 30 Sonic Volume: 0 Frequency: In the middle of the rodent scale Three negatives, none of which are deal killers: 1. You CANNOT get tech support from the manufacturer. I have emailed them four times with no response. So I just figured it out on my own. 2. Even though the description says you can run them on batteries alone, the batteries don't last more than a few weeks, so if that is your only option, but batteries in bulk. 3. The back cover is the most amazingly hard to remove and re-install thing I have ever seen. However, if you use a hair dryer on it for a minute, it comes right off, and easily snaps back on.

It is audible, like a string of police car sirens, not ultrasound.
I thought it was ultrasound repellant. No, it is audible, like a string of police car sirens. People could thing there is a burglar alarm at the house. Unusable... 0 stars would be about right.

Does not work for deer or dogs.
Purchased and installed hoping that deer issue can be resolved. I was wrong. Deer are walking close to this unit without any discomfort. Dog ignores it as well. Changed settings and loudness but no result. Total waste of time and money
