Is this normal?** A: Any water coming out means the seal is no good. I would replace the cartridge at some point. Refunded with no issues ### ⭐ Do yourself a favor and buy the installation tool, and don't buy this knock off. *by R***E on July 24, 2020* This is a replacement for the Sloan Flushmate cartridge, but it is not made by Flushmate. The one I received was harder to flush to flush initially. After a week, it no longer functioned correctly, with it being almost impossible to depress the lever, and when you did, the water just slowly came out. This rather defeats the purpose of the Sloan Flushmate. Skip this knock off and buy the real Sloan Flushmate C100500K.More Details:While the removal and installation is straightforward, it is not easy to do without the Sloan Flushmate tool, and normally I wouldn't be buying a tool that I might use once. Do yourself a favor and buy the installation tool. I followed the youtube video from Sloan. While you can do it with a pair of pliers, I don't recommend it. I broke several fins off of this knock off cartridge installing the new cartridge. (You would think that the old cartridge would be the one to be brittle and break fins. Go figure- must be low quality, or thinner plastic in the knockoff.) It takes a great deal of torque to get it out, and even more torque to get it back in (See below), and I am a strong guy. I had a 14" screwdriver between a large pair of pliers.During removal, the cartridge seems to get hung up at the end for a bit, but keep turning and it will eventually come out. It is a long set of threads in the tank.When you install the new one, get at least one full thread of the tank exposed above the cartridge before turning the water on. It took me another three turns to get the water to shut off and the tank to fill with this knock off.There was a new screen for the water inlet and an air siphon valve included with the kit, unfortunately the new air siphon leaked. No amount of fiddling would get it not to back flow and leak.I dinged one star for this knock off for not having strong fins, and for the defective siphon valve. That's just poor QC. Overall, I gave it one star because it just doesn't function.Overall, the original Sloan valve has functioned well, over fifteen years on the first cartridge. This knockoff didn't make it a week.Update: I ordered a real Sloan Flushmate and installed it to replace this item. The real Sloan Flushmate threaded in easily, and flushes with the lightest of pressure. Upon removal of this item, I think that the item that I received was slightly oversized.
