It’s called a throttle lock, which can be misleading because it doesn’t actually “lock” the throttle of your motorcycle. When it’s engaged it simply holds your throttle in any position you leave it in. When you want to adjust your speed, simply rotate the throttle like normal. It uses pressure and friction to prevent the throttle from rotating freely. The atlas is clamped to the plastic throttle tube, between your rubber grip flange and the throttle housing so it doesn’t take up any grip space. It rotates with your throttle hand, is thumb activated and just over 1/4 inch thick. The ATLAS Throttle Lock has two buttons. One to engage the unit and another to disengage. You have the freedom to install the atlas at just the right angle so you are never reaching for the buttons, it is always right where you expect it to be. The atlas bolts on in less than 10 minutes and requires no modifications for most bikes. It works with hand guards and heated grips. When the atlas is engaged, a friction pad on a stainless steel tab presses against the throttle housing. It doesn’t disengage when you rotate the throttle. We did this intentionally so you can make incremental speed adjustments as you ride. You can override the atlas at all times. The ATLAS Throttle Lock comes in 2 different configurations: a top kit and a bottom kit. The top kit was designed for motorcycles with certain interferences, throttles with heated grip wires on the lower half of the grip, right-hand turn signals on the throttle housing. If there is less than 1.5 inches (38 mm) of clearance between the tank and the throttle housing at full right turn. The bottom kit works with the majority of motorcycles. I didn't think it worked very well at locking the throttle. It did kind of work for a while then it flew off of the bike on a trip back from the Dragon. Either the Top Kit or the Bottom Kit will mount and function, but some bikes of this model might have tight fuel tank clearance when turning the bars to the right. You will want to check fuel tank clearance by rotating the bars full right, then measuring from the fuel tank to the base of the plastic throttle tube in between the rubber grip flange and the throttle cable housing. The measurement needs to be at least 1.5" (38mm) for a Bottom Kit to fit without contacting the fuel tank. If you don't have the space, choose the Top Kit.
