Can you use just one mount for whole gun?

single point, yes and no. Double point, yes and no. I bought this and it worked for me on my handguard. My buttstock had a QD sling mount on it. Most do, some don't. some castle nuts even have a QD slot built in. If you tried to use a single point on the handguard there is a high chance you will be danging the gun pointing up/flagging yourself. Not safe.
