I purchased 5' metal posts from Lowes for less than $4 each. If you can wait a week or two for shipping, there were some under 3 on amazon.

Is this heavy enougn to lay on top of mulch in my backyard fruit tree orchard to keep the birds, rabbits, and ground squirrels from digging it up?

I would say yes. Ive used the same roll and pieces from the roll for 6 yrs now with very little tear. Ive used it as fencing, trellis and it does great.

Thwarting deer

This is the second role of this fencing. It is not overly sturdy but it provides enough of a deterrent in the woods to keep the deer from strolling through. Use 5' fence posts and zip ties to secure so there is not a $$ investment. Easy to replace or repair by adding another piece. The green color does not show up as much as other colors but it would be great if they ever made it in black, then it would not show up at all.

Great for temporary fencing . They are not durable under any stress and will break. Need lots of support. Easy to put up and take down. Easily effected by wind as they are "fatter" than wire fence. Bottom line, great temporary fence as designed.

It's sturdy and wide

This is the perfect fencing for us. We use it as a vegetable trellis for our cucumbers and snap beans. They run up the fencing so nicely. Easy to cut and easy to secure to the poles.
