It does still invert when winds are strong but less frequently than usual/cheap umbrellas. The material is thick, and the whole thing feels very sturdy. It opens very nicely, and clicking the button again will prompt it to close the canopy, but you have to force the closed canopy back down the pole to get it to lock back into place in order to be able to open it again.
