For centuries, the empire of Cheliax stood as an example of the greatness humanity could achieve, with colonies and vassal states spread throughout the Inner Sea region. When the god Aroden died on the eve of his prophesied return to the mortal world, the empire fell into a vicious civil war. The victors of this conflict were the Thrice-Damned House of Thrune, who made pacts with the denizens of Hell to wrest control of Cheliax. In the decades since, many of the empire’s holdings have fallen away, but at its core Cheliax remains a powerful nation, now both subservient to and allied with the legions of the Pit. Explore the vast nation and its inhabitants, from the gnomes of Brastlewark to the xenophobic, winged strix of Devil’s Perch; from the rebellious citizens of Kintargo to Thrune loyalists in the heart of Egorian. A perfect supplement to the Hell’s Rebels and Hell’s Vengeance Adventure Paths, Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Cheliax, The Infernal Empire is a must-have! Review: Yes, watch your step here - An important area for me, Cheliax gives you a sketch of this important country. It's only 64 pages, so keep your expectation in check for what they can do in that short size. For me, lots of great information, and an important pick up. Review: Very good despite many books on the subject already published - I am writing this because I'm tired of the 1 or 2 sentence reviews. First off, this book is a great addition to all the other Chelaxian books out there. The biggest problem is that there are several other books out there and you need to buy them to get the complete picture of what you may be looking for. If you want to learn of 2 cities, Egorian and Corentyn, you'll need to buy other books. Same if you want information on the Hell Knights, Bell Flower Society, anti-Thrune organizations, Cheliax specific threats, etc. For one book though, I give this 5 stars because it does fill in what's not been published by Pazio so far. For example, if you're looking for lots of maps, you'll be disappointed (it's another product you have to get). If you're looking for detailed information on the Cheliax's Imperial City Egorian, you'll be disappointed, it's mostly (including maps) in the 4th book of Hell's Vengeance adventure path. If you want detailed information on Hell Knights, again, a separate book. If you want detailed information on the city of Corentyn, it's in (I think) Pathfinder's Cities of the Inner Sea book. Same for the Church of Asmodeus, Immodae faith/followers, Cheliax-specific items/gear, etc. What the book DOES have are lots of details on geographic areas and settlements throughout the entire Empire. That alone is enough to give DM/GMs plenty of fodder for thought, ideas, etc. There are some detailed maps of Ostenso and smaller towns in the book. More details on the citadels of the Hell Knights and brief snippits of their leaders. A chronological history for Cheliax- pre House Thrune and post. 11 adventures set throughout the Empire with a wide taste. A 5 monster bestiary of Cheliax specific monsters in the back. Encounter tables for the regions of Cheliax. Some notes on Cheliax culture. A much needed list of actual noble titles and what they mean (a must if you're going to run games or play a lot in Cheliax). Again, there's so many books on Cheliax with other information and all of the Empire's aspects require purchasing more, smaller yet cheaper books, to learn more (a BIG negative). The big positive is this fills in the smaller gaps of knowledge concerning all things Cheliax (which are well covered through 2 Adventure Paths and other supplemental books). While not a critique on the book, I do wish Pazio would take its time and publish all of the information (not just the Adventure Paths) in one book which I would happily pay more for as opposed to multiple purchases here and there. If you're looking for a book to fill in the gaps of knowledge you can't get from other books, I highly recommend this book. I give it 4 stars because it delivers but doesn't deliver ENOUGH for the big picture.

Sorry Amazon, this is not a work of fiction ...
Sorry Amazon, this is not a work of fiction but a source book for one of the richest and most developed RPG campaign settings of all time.

Detailing the Infernal Empire.
Good reference on one of the more interesting areas of Pathfinder's Golarion setting. Pretty typical quality-wise for Paizo; good stuff, I just always wish there were more!

Got this as a compendium for the Hell's Vengeance Adventure/Campaign Path
Got this as a compendium for the Hell's Vengeance Adventure/Campaign Path and I'm glad I did. It has a lot more details that apply to the campaign setting and has some more information on classes/skills/feats, etc... It has many new types of spells and what-nots that I personally liked. It came very quickly and in great condition. I would recommend this book to anyone who may need some additional information for a campaign or simply to complete your collection!

Lacks inspiring content
Not much inspiration here I'm afraid. Hard work to read and not what I wanted. Books like Land of the Linnorn Kings and Orision are much better.
