Good clean looking addition to Ghost Control System
I installed 5 years ago Ghost Control system to automatically open the security entry gate to my property. At that time I decided to go with one big acid lead battery bought from a local store. Built a battery housing with scrap wood pieces and covered it with greenhouse plastic sheet. It worked just fine and the battery died after 5 years. When the time came to replace the battery I wanted to improve the look also, so went with this box. It was easy to install, took less than 15 minutes to fix the box to a wooden post and connect battery wires to the Ghost Controller. Two batteries included came fully charged so it saved time in charging them.

Ghost control install
Install was easy even for a 70 year old man. The only issue I had was I was using a 3" pipe for the control arm and the install kit was only for a wooden post. I tried using 3" u bolts to make the attachment. I tighten them and thought it would work. The wind kept moving the gate and the u bolts keep slipping so the gate wouldn't close all the way because of it. I didn't see any u tube videos where the were attaching on a round metal post. I went back to amazon and finally found a piece that make for attaching to a 3" or 4" post. Ordered it (AX3R) and it worked perfectly. I drilled all the way thru the pipe and using the long bolts that came with the install kit. It worked perfectly and it didn't slip anymore. Great product and the customer service people were very helpful.

Plug and play easy squeezy
Great product, easy to install, everything came plug and play ready. Screwed the box to the wooden post, ran the wire through the keeper of the control board then plugged it in and it was ready to provide power

Get a real solar charger and LiFePO4 battery!!
Update-Ghost Controls issued me a refund for this purchase. They originally offered to replace the batteries, which I refused. I appreciate the refund. Original Review: You will be jury rigging your gate open in the dead of winter if you buy this instead of a LiFePO4 battery! I bought it for convenience, knowing that lead acid batteries were a mistake for outdoor use, but thought I could get a year out of it. WRONG! I installed it in late April and before November both batteries are dead. I am in Ohio and bought the optional 30W solar panel. The Ghost Controls (GC) gate controller only allows for lead acid batteries, so your hands are tied. What you need to know about lead acid batteries: 1. They don’t like heat extremes. Mine died on the first cold day, six months in. 2. They only have HALF the usable capacity of what they’re rated. Two 7AH batteries don’t give you 14AH capacity, they give you 7. If you drain the batteries more halfway, they crystallize internally and won’t hold a charge. 3. They like to stay topped off, which a solar system isn’t going to do well. Because they aren’t fully charged most of the time, they die prematurely. LiFePO4 batteries are MUCH better for solar, especially for a gate because: 1. They can safely be drained 80% without any damage. 2. Most solar batteries have a BMS (battery management system) that prevents them from being over charged or over drained. 3. Way more capacity for the weight. The same size battery will have 2-3 the capacity and a third the weight. (I’m estimating on the weight, but you get the idea). My replacement battery is smaller than the two original batteries combined, and has 20MAH. At 80% discharge, that’s 16AH useable capacity. I bought a waterproof Wanderer solar charger from Renogy and a 20AH 12V LiFePO4 battery. I cut the center divider out of the battery box and it squeezed in. All I needed were some 1/4” crimp connectors and some 16GA wire for the extra connection to go to the solar charger. Now I have a smart charger that shows me the status of the battery and a LiFEPO4 battery better suited to the conditions. It also came with a temperature sensor that you tape to the outside of the battery so the charger can account for the ambient temperature. If the battery hd been too large, a watertight box and connectors are available all over Amazon. You could even take the connector out of the GC box and reuse it. Ghost Controls needs to move into the 21st century and stop using lead acid batteries in their gates. The one other person I know with a GC gate found the batteries dead on cold days and threw their money away by purchasing more batteries from GC as replacements. I think people would rather pay extra for a reliable system instead of having to jury rig their gate open and closed in the dead of winter.

Installed on a single gate in less than 3 hours
Installed my gate opener on a single gate, I bought the batteries and solar charger for my gate opener and I have had all installed now for about 6 months charger and batteries are doing well no problems installation was simple enough, my wife’s 2017 Acura mdx garage opener connected to the gate no problems, but my 2010 titan would not connect to. It will connect to newer cars. It all works well and has not stopped working even on the coldest days and some of the more cloud filled days overall the system looks good and works well. Never had to call tech support for help on installation was simple. This system was a good value for the money. Update bought my gate opener in 2023 its now 2025, bought it with solar charger and batteries and I have not had to replace the batteries at all and the gate system still works flawlessly.

Best of three used.
I have used Mighty Mule and Topens, this is the easiest to install and this point the best. Topens would get 1 star, MM 3 stars. I am a poor DYIer but these instructions were very easy to follow and understand.
