And of course you can easily spend 2X's the price but unless you're a daily user I don't know why you would - this thing is fairly robust. I've had the machine for a few weeks and drilled about 40 holes with it for base plates and similar and including layout time and cutting the plates it took me maybe 3 or 4 hours. If your needs are similar then I would say "Buy with confidence". Review: Safety stops IF magnet comes loose - Great drill, and the fact that it has a safety switch IF the magnetic base comes loose, is all you need to make the choice to buy this over cheaper models. Magnet is big-time strong so it has never come loose in over 50 holes on a recent project but good to know that it won't ruin your life if it goes rogue! This is a quality tool. Matched with 1" drill set and this hobby-machine guy no longer hates drilling holes! The safety and quality of good holes is SO worth it. Can't believe it took me so long to realize how much time a mag-drill saves AND how you have so many options for metal projects. No place to attach? Clamp on a flat plate or big angle iron and you are good to go. I even prefer this over drill press because the annular drills are so much faster and better.
