No smell really, if anything like a subtle watered down latex paint. Some people have complained about the smell but I don’t have any issues with it. We used it to seal some furniture that my husband was having a terrible respiratory reaction to because of all the off gassing and this stuff really worked. It dries down pretty fast and I was worried it would be tacky because directions say you should use a finishing coat of something because it would be tacky but because it was raw mdf we were treating it soaked it right up and didn’t leave it sticky at all. Would highly recommend if you have sensitivity to chemicals in manufactured wood products.

Bought this to stop faameldihide smell in our camper. Didn't work. I'm writing a review 4 years later because we finally found something that cuts the smell. Rug Doctor carpet cleaner. We have tried many things and We accidentally ran into this. It's the first thing that has ever cut the smell of that faameldihide.

We raised the floor on a sunken room and the top boards are OSB plywood. We found out afterwards that these boards release a lot of VOCs and the smell was overwhelming and nauseating to me. We discovered this product and got it from Amazon right away. After one coat the smell was gone. Note that the product has its own smell, which is gone the next day. We had ordered enough for two coats so we just went ahead and put the other coat on, but I think one would have been enough. A one gallon jug of the stuff covered about 300 square feet of our boards. We used a window squeegee to spread on the first coat after pouring small amounts in puddles around the boards. But the second coat we used a garden pump-type sprayer to put the stuff on and used the squeegee to spread it an that worked better.

After several coats (3-4 coats on 4 different pieces of furniture), it still has a strong odor. It didn’t even reduce the odor. Also, fair warning, don’t put safe coat on the outside of the furniture (the areas of the furniture you plan to see everyday) because it gives it a glossy coat, making it look like plastic. If anything touches it, it leaves an impression (fingerprint or light scratch on the coat, not the actual wood). Poor quality and durability sucks. For the record, the solution does not have an odor once it dries, but it does NOT serve its purpose of sealing off smells. It’s easy to apply but it’s runny and beads up so be prepared for that. You’ll have to do additional coats during first coat application because of that. The price is NOT worth it. You might as well air dry your products, which we did for months before applying layers of this product. It’s been 4+ months since applying many layers and there has been no improvement. Do not easy your money.

We used this product to eliminate/reduce the offgas from kitchen cabinets in the new house we bought. We applied this product on all reachable plywood and other composite, untreated surfaces. We applied Acri-laq from the same manufacturer on some of the treated/lacquered surfaces. We also did 'bakeouts' by raising the HVAC temperature to 85+ degrees for eight hours or longer several nights, followed by early morning ventilation. These measures effectively eliminated nearly all of the new-house smell and make it habitable to us who are very sensitive to odors and offgas of all kinds.
