It melts into the skin quickly. At first, I thought it was going to leave a greasy residue, but it did not. It soaked in, and my hands felt good and moisturized for several hours after. The first time I tried it was at my sister's house, my hands were so severely chapped that they were starting to bleed, and she had some by the sink. So I had to wash, and instead of drying, I put the lotion on my wet hands and (omg it burned so freaking bad), but about ten minutes later, my hand looked and felt so much better.
