No ads, no in-app purchases. Puzzle Craze + Technology = Addictive Fun.
Discovering the GoCube Edge Full Pack has been a game-changer in our family's Rubik's Cube obsession. My nephew has recently been swept up in the Rubik's cube craze, amassing quite the collection. So when he mentioned the GoCube Edge, I, a self-proclaimed techy who usually finds these connected puzzles clunky and frustrating, had to investigate. Let me tell you, from the very first "turn", the GoCube Edge shattered my expectations. The app? Intuitive genius. Clear instructions and a thoughtfully designed interface had my nephew downloaded, connected, and competing against players worldwide in under 10 minutes, without needing a single assist from me. Smooth? Like Butter. Every twist and turn feels effortless. As he's going through the motions, you can see every move ON. THE. APP. You can even see the other player's moves as well. It's like a virtual dreamscape of Rubik's cube perfection lol. It's such a satisfying experience, and as we're all gathered around rooting for him, it makes it even more thrilling when you're seeing the movements on the Tablet placed in front of us. It's been 3 days, and he's hardly put the cube down. It's addictive fun. He's learning, strategizing, and getting better and better according to the amount of moves and time stamps displayed on his account. It's a great adventure for him. I've registered him for a competition in a couple of weeks, and guess what weapon of choice he'll be using to practice in his arsenal?! Speaking of weapons, I might just have to grab one myself. Despite my lack of interest prior to this "major event", the GoCube Edge has me excited to learn. Mixing the Rubik's cube and technology to create the GoCube is genius. Pure Genius. Its accessibility makes it perfect for any age or skill level, beginner or expert, clumsy or coordinated. It's engaging, educational, and highly entertaining (not just for the player, but for an audience as well). This product is a must have! I'll be back to upload a video of him playing in the next few days.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
This product is amazing. Not in the slightest is there a single flaw. Never seen anything like it. I got it just day before yesterday, and I've spent about two hours on it. Let's focus on the beforehand, when you are just buying it. The shipping is great, it comes with air pillows to make sure it doesn't get damaged while delivery, and it shipped amazingly fast (four days). (I chose the "free shipping" option WITHOUT amazon prime) When you do get it, the packaging is phenomenal and intuitive to find out where everything is. Very easy to set up. All you need to do is download the FREE app, compatible on ANY device (I don't recommend computer!) But try mobile devices instead. (I use iPad because it has a big screen) Phone works well too. It's good for any level of cubers, whether you're an intermediate, beginner, or pro. I say this because there is literally a system of teaching the beginner method of the cube. (I already know how to solve the cube but I decided to try it out anyway.) If you are a bit more advanced, solve the cube in less than 30 seconds to unlock a hard mode. By hard mode I mean that there is a literal way to compete against other gocube users around the globe! That brings me to the phrase "hard mode." It's a matchmaking system that tests out your abilities. Solving the cube in less than a certain amount of time will unlock another mode. For example, if you need a bit more of a challenge, solve the cube in less than 30 seconds to unlock a mode where only more advanced cubers will be able to join and compete with you. There are leaderboards not only for solving the cube fast, but also for scrambling fast as well. Aside from going multiplayer, there are singleplayer things you can do in the app, such as games that make you a better cuber and are very fun. If that wasn't enough, the rotations you do on the cube literally show up on the screen in the app. Furthermore, there aren't any in-app purchases, and neither are there any ads whatsoever. The only things you have to do to start up the cube when you first get on the app is to choose the cube around you (the app scans for gocubes nearby you with bluetooth) and sign in! I definitely recommend if you have a passion for learning or showing off some skill on cubing. One last thing to make sure you don't do is to not rotate the cube until you are fully into the app. If you do move it by accident, it's completely fine though, but it will waste about five minutes of your time. TLDR: designed for any level of cubers, exceptionally intuitive to use, and overall is loads of fun! Definitely recommend as a gift for absolutely anyone!

Awesome
I learned how to solve a cube from memory in one night using this and the app. It was awesome to unlock a new skill- and with practice I’m excited to get faster.

A very fun and entertaining toy, with only a few minor downfalls
I received this cube for Christmas and love it. I already knew how to solve the cube so was unable to use the learning feature. However, based on how-easy to-use the rest of the app was, I bet this feature would be able to teach you if that is your desire. Going off of that, the app is very easy to use, and I have not had a single problem connecting the cube or charging it either. The battery life is also very good, lasting for hours. You can do multiple sessions without having to charge it. The cube sensors when turning the sides are also very reliable, and in the nearly 300 solves I have done with the cube so far, the sensors have not failed a single time. The cube itself is unique, but still very good. To start off, like all modern/high end speed cubes today, it is magnetic. For me, the magnets don't feel too weak or too strong. The curved edges are nice and add a unique feature to this cube, however this along with the smooth feel of this cube leads to a problem. Sometimes, one of my fingers may slip and I either drop the cube or have to reposition it in my hand, or worse, I will turn layers that I didn't mean to turn and loose track of where I am in an algorithm and have to redo steps. This is a downfall, however it is rare and I do not think it is a reason for you to not get this cube. One side note, this cube does weigh 124 grams which is a lot. This was likely something that they couldn't do much about when designing the cube, so I must let it slide. With this said, it is also something that I don't feel should discourage you from getting this cube. Turns just require a little more force to perform. I can still easily do U2 in one motion on it. Another downfall to this cube is the lights. They advertise the lights as a great feature to be able to use the cube in the dark, however you can't. The lights are completely useless. In bright, mild, and dark lighting conditions, the lights are unusable. When you turn the lights on, red and orange look identical, and white and yellow are hard to differentiate between as well. Even when adjusting the brightness setting, there is no difference. This is really disappointing and I am upset to see this feature not be usable. The other big downfall is something I'm not even sure of how it works. To explain it, on my screen, a persons cube will show it still being scrambled, but it will give me a loss and them a win. I don't know what this is, wether an app connection error when displaying the other persons cube, or something else. I have reason to believe it's something else. When this happens to me, a pattern I notice every time is that the person spams moves, getting upwards of 300-400 moves, and this is way above the amount of moves it should take to solve a cube. In addition, they would have to complete this number of calculated move in half a second. I thinks this is just a bug but its super frustrating and is my biggest annoyance of everything. I really hope this gets fixed. The final and most small detail is the stand. Now, I want to emphasize that I might be doing something wrong, but the charger does reach the charging holes when the cube is in the stand. I didn't see myself using the stand to charge the cube because I don't display it near an outlet, but when setting it up when first opening the cube, it wouldn't reach. I did not read the direction or put much time into setting up the stand as I knew I would not use it in this way, but when just following the image, it did not work. All these things should not deter you from buying the cube as they are all small little details. The lights are a huge issue and need to be fixed, along with the app bug, but be honest, how often would you cube in the dark. This was every issue I could think of about this cube just so you could know all the downfalls (at least all to my knowledge) The cube is great and this review in no way intended for you to not buy the cube. In fact, I 99% recommend it. The cube is so much fun. I know this review sounds negative, but I wanted to to point out every small problem I have found so you know completely about what your buying. For every one of these small nuisances, I can name so many other good things about this cube. It honestly amazing and such a cubing milestone/accomplishment. Happy Cubing!

Love it, but the app could be better
This is a marvelous piece of technology, the cube syncs with an app on your phone and tracks every movement you make, it works very well. There is an app that will both teach you how to solve, track every solve, and let you compete against others. Things I like: * pretty hassle free, download app, create an account, easy sync up * learning app really works, after not touching a cube in decades I was solving it without help within an hour * every "official" solve is recorded with in-depth metrics, including total time, idle time, TPS, method, and splits for each method step * a real, but not super high end speedcube, it has magnets, it cuts corners, all well enough for anyone but a serious competitor (and electric cubes aren't allowed in competitions anyway) I'm getting my money's worth, but there are some things that could be better you should know about: * while the app it recognizes different methods (beginner, CFOP, presumably Roux and ZZ), it only teaches beginner...seems like it would be super easy move on to other methods (or at least CFOP) and help drill your OLL and PLL algorithms * it only does quarter move metrics * app is a work in progress, a lot of "coming soon" features * the physical orientation is tracked (i.e., which side is on top), but seems to get out of sync easily * it breaks does your solve by rotation types (R, U, F, etc.), but doesn't seem to understand cube rotations, making this info pretty useless * a lot of it is filler, I really don't want to play music with my cube * you can challenge people online, but you will often get a bot instead * has a rounded shape, I like it, but might make it harder to switch between it and other speed cubes * the cube works by detecting and relaying moves to the app, it does not remember what state it is in...if you scramble it while not connected, you have to input the state (or have it set the cube to solved) * for some features, the timer starts on your first move, for others, if you move before the time starts you forfeit, and it is not always clear which * very, very occasionally the app will get a move wrong and the cube will become out of sync

Easily learn to solve rubik's cube
This cube is great. Within an hour of opening I had already solved the cube for the first time. The app shows you the steps to follow to easily solve the cube. Within a day, I could reliably solve the cube within 5 minutes, though my average times have been dropping steadily. Pros 1. Cube feels great. Compared to my trusty old Rubik's cube, this cube turns so much smoother. I find myself struggling to get my original cube to turn smoothly compared to the GoCube. I'm still learning how to flick the layers to get them to turn, which is allowing my times to drop. 2. I always believed I could learn with just the diagrams, but I was never able to see exactly how I'm supposed to move each layer. This app solves that problem because oftentimes I can just watch my phone screen to know how to move each layer. 3. The battery so far seems to last a pretty long time. I charged it when I first got it, and it has gone several days without needing charged. I play it maybe 10-15 times a day. Cons 1. Relatively minor issue, but when I first took the cube out of the box, it had something all over the cube. I'm assuming it was lubricant. I wiped off the excess and now there is no sign of it. 2. Fairly major issue: sometimes when I turn a layer fast, the cube/app does not actually track the change and I have to resync the app to the cube. The issue comes up where it gets out of sync during a "match" and there is no way to finish because the cube that is showing in the app is not in the same state as the actual cube. With the real cube solved, the app shows a jumbled mess. The only way to contend with it and not have it affect the statistics is to use the cube as a controller to solve the app's cube. All in all, I would still purchase the GoCube again even with the sync issue. It would make a great gift to someone that has never actually been able to solve a Rubik's cube.

Amazing Speed Cube, amazing Smart Cube backed by an amazing company.
This is a great cube! No I don’t mean smart cube (it is), but just cube! I have a lot of cubes (GAN was my precious best) but this thing is amazing! It took a few minutes to get used to the rounded edges, but once I did I’ve solved faster on this than any other cube. The magnets are strong but the snap between each move is crisp and smooth. As far as smartcube goes; Its unreal! Not only does it teach you how to solve the cube, but there are fun and challenging games, which is ok - not sure how much time I spend on the games - but the BEST part to me is the online battles. Challenging people to a “solve off” whenever I feel like it is a very cool experience. Makes Cubing much less lonely and solo. There’s a few challenge “player vs player” modes and each one is fun. The app runs well and looks good, and all the stat tracking is very nice. The offline capabilities is a nice touch - knowing how many solves I’ve done, or how long I’ve been cubing offline (not connected to the app) is a nice little boost when you reconnect to the app. My first cube had an issue with the offline mode. Particula handled my issue like I was a family member. Seriously never been treated so nicely by a company before! It’s a rare thing that you’re thankful you had issues with a product, but that’s true. My experience and the outcome was better than had I had no problems. How cool is that?

GREAT cube for ALL skill levels!
SO happy with this purchase! My son and I randomly bought a Rubik's cube and I decided to try and learn to solve it properly. I started with YouTube videos and was able to solve the first 2 layers within the first week, but found it difficult to remember the rest of the steps and algorithms. I already knew I wanted to get a smoother moving cube, and thought maybe there is one with an app that could help make learning the rest easier. When I saw GoCube, I knew I had to try it out, and I'm so glad I did! This thing is as smooth as butter! I'm no pro cuber, obviously, but the magnets make such a difference. The overall look is super sleek, as well. The app is the biggest highlight for me. The "Academy" section of the app was great for learning. They break up each step and include short videos. I was able to learn a better way to do what I already knew, and it made learning and remembering the algorithms so much easier. I was solving the cube repeatedly on my own in less than a week. Now that I have mastered solving the cube, I am working on bringing down my solve time. I can time my solves with the app, which works great! The timer starts on its own once you make your first move, and stops as soon as the cube is solved. There are a handful of different games you can play on the app, and you can compete with other cubers around the world in different skill levels. I was a little worried there may not be enough users to quickly get matched with other people, but that hasn't been an issue at all. The app also tracks your stats, so you can see your personal best times, number of moves, wins/losses, and more. My 10yo son has learned to solve using the app, with a little extra help from mom, and now he's solving just as quickly as me and begging for his own GoCube! Lol! The only complaints I have is that the positioning of the cube on the app can be finicky, which can be a pain in the butt, mostly just when your in the "Academy" section trying to learn. I also have to plug-in which color cubes are where from time to time, as it can get a little scrambled once in a while. Not a big deal though. I do wish the "Academy" went into further lessons once you've mastered the solve. Like how to solve with fewer moves and different finger tricks and what not. And I definitely wish GoCube had more cubes! I'd like to move on to the 4x4, 5x5, pyraminx, skewb, etc, and it would be so nice to learn with their app. Hopefully, those are to come!
