## Description

"YoLink" is a proprietary wireless technology provided by YoSmart. which is based on Semtech's LoRa wireless technology combined with the YoSmart smart home/building protocol, to provide the most advanced smart home/building devices solution. Compared to WIFI, Bluetooth, ZigBee, Z-Wave, and other smart home protocols, it has the advantages of low-power consumption, long-distance coverage (wall penetration), and anti-interference. It is the first smart building/home protocol that can be very easily set up and is a very low cost but creates a reliable, robust, and more secure IoT network. Requirements: 1. A YoLink Hub (sold separately, used to connect YoLink Vibration Sensor to the internet and the Cloud). 2. A smartphone or tablet running iOS 9.0 or higher, Android 4.4 or higher.

Review: I have experience with multiple IOT platforms, including YoLink, Aqara, Lutron, VOCOLink, etc… and countless sensors for each, but until now I never had or tested a vibration sensor. My use case is around the need to monitor a pool pump and ensure it comes on-line each day. As the pump is variable speed and internally computer controlled it has to be connected to power all the time so a high-power contactor is not going to work. I thought about installing a CT probe in the power panel to monitor power usage and while that would have worked there are issues with WiFi reaching inside the metal box as well as the lack of software logic to alert proactively when there is no power usage. Anyway, I tried to simplify solving the problem by just installing a vibration sensor on the pool pump, to be able to tell and be notified when the pump comes and goes off. To hedge my bets I ordered both a YoLInk and Aqara Vibration Sensors and attached both to the pump in the same location for testing. The YoLink sensor is about 3 times larger than the Aqara one but has the advantage of using 2 x AAA batteries that are easily replaceable and since they provide more power the YoLink sensor will last longer. The YoLink sensor also has a much more customized device configuration in the YoLink app with great options that allow me to setup an alert if the pump (vibration) does not occur in the AM when the pump starts! Lastly, the YoLink sensor proved to provide 10 levels of vibration sensitivity straight in their App, whereas the Aqara sensor only provides 3 levels and for changing each one you have to also press the button on the sensor. Not very practical on Aqara! Lastly, the YoLink sensor uses LoRa long range technology and has a much better connection all the way to my pool pump. I must say I am thrilled with the performance and features of the YoLink Vibration Sensor and it has solved a very frustrating problem for me which is why I wanted to recommend it.

I reached out to support because I originally didn't know how to set this up so I would get notified when the cycles stopped and they were quick to respond and guided me through how to setup an automation using the app. The app btw has an automation section resembling that of IFTTT and Samsung SmartThings. I also purchased the gate contact sensor, Power Failure Alarm, and hub products which I'm equally happy with. While some of the products advertised on desertcart don't mention a hub is required I found that having it was a must to take advantage of all the features, and the instructions recommend having one as well.

**Q: If purchased to monitor catalytic converter tampering, how would it be positioned on the cc or on the vehicle?**
A: This is actually a very popular use for the sensor. I think customers are generally placing it in the trunk or in a pocket of a door.

**Q: Will the sensor detect breaking glass anywhere in the vicinity or does it just detect vibration from the window it is on?**
A: Its detection technology is vibration-only, not acoustic or sound-activated. It is unlikely to respond to glass breaking in the vicinity. Please consider placing one of these sensors on each window or pane that you want to protect. And, if that is not practical, consider one of our motion sensors, for protection of a larger area.

**Q: Would a large sliding glass door need two of these?**
A: Do both doors move? If not, probably, just one on the sliding door should be sufficient. Breaking the non-sliding one should shake the other one enough to activate the sensor. It does have adjustable sensitivity. You can tap or pound on the non-sliding one until you get the desired response.

**Q: does it require subscription?**
A: No required subscriptions, no fees. The app is free. There is a limited number of SMS alerts available. The number is determined by your quantity of devices times 5, plus five. A hub and two Vibration Sensors would give you 20 texts per month free. If you need more than that, you can add 200 or 500 more for two or five dollars per month by (optional) subscription. Of course you can get essentially unlimited emails and push notifications, including iOS Critical Alerts for iPhones.

1. Easy to add using the YoLink app. 2. Sensitivity level can be adjusted to avoid false alarms. 3. Can be integrated with Alexa to create routines, and the YoLink alarm can be added to trigger siren. 4. YoLink devices use standard IFTTT protocol, which makes it easy to integrate with other routines. For example, the YoLink alarm can be added as a bulb or switch that can even be triggered by other events, such as motion detected on a camera, in addition to being triggered by these sensors. 5. No subscription required to get notifications or trigger the alarm. 6. Exceptional range, as the use proprietary LoRA communication protocol between sensors and hub.
