Dawn of Change explores unknown feelings after 20 years of marriage
Gerri Hill has a gift that translates into books readers understand and ask for more. I read this book and saw similar characteristics I went through discovering my own sexuality. Ms Hill combines these characteristics with the characteristics of family members who don’t understand or acknowledge what a person may go through in sexual discovery. Susan, married for 20 years, walks into her home bedroom to find her husband in their bed with a younger woman in the midst of having sex. Susan immediately leaves for the mountain cabin to decide what to do next. You’ll need to read the book to watch her travel through emotions while dealing with her county club family, her daughter who has started college and trying to define herself, her husband David, and a stranger on the mountain on weekends camping.

LOVED IT SO MUCH I WANTED EBOOK!!
I actually own the paperback of the book and have re-read it several times and wanted to own it in ebook so I could read it over and over at my leisure. The book has well developed characters and a plausable plot where you can actually see yourself or get the "Oh yeah, I been there!" eyebrow raising feeling. This is a discovery story with two main characters; one a seasoned lesbian with a mysterious past who is essentially a loner. The second character is a married women running away from a cheating husband. Both discover each other on a camping path thru the lesbian's over-eager and lovable dog. Through this meeting they make several discoveries about life, themselves and love. The makeout and sex scenes are kinda hot! Unlike other reviewers, I'm not going to spoil things for ya, read it, you'll like it!

Perfect!!!
Gerri Hill certainly doesn't disappoint with this one, her fourth book. Watching the friendship form between Shawn and Susan is very refreshing. It just seems so easy and comfortable. The relationship grows and the passion is wonderful. However, there are plenty of twists and turns along the way to romance. Susan's family is full of surprises, but Shawn has a few surprises of her own. When you finish this book, you will find yourself sighing with contentment. Yes, it's that good. Dawn Of Change is an excellent read. If you have not yet read a a book by Gerri Hill, I'm sorry. You're really missing out. I've always been extremely satisfied with Gerri's books, and I'm really looking forward to Hunter's Way in May.

Good read, read in 1 night
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book - good writing, really brings out the emotion of each character. Not too sure about all the smoking & beer though - at one point I found myself worried about the characters health lol

Shawn, a lesbian single and Susan, a divorced heterosexual, meet in the seclusion of a national park, get to be good friends and in the end, fall in love with each other. Maybe some people will say: this story firms a popular chliché and is not new at all. There exist many books about lesbians falling in love to (supposed) heterosexuals. Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading because the author pictures the story in a lively, stirring and convincing way. I understood the feelings of Susan and Shwan all the time - and that`s because the author made it feasible to me. It was also interesting for me to learn about the moral values of this segment of American society Susan belongs to and which are conveyed by the character of Susans sister Ruth. For most people in my country, 16 is quite a normal age to have sex for the first time (many girls are even younger and most people see this as normal) and 20 is absolutly normal for drinking alcohol in front of your mother. I was surprised that having sex with 16 sounds even for the "relaxed people" in this story like child abuse.... So that was also very interesting to get to know about this kind of (US-)society. The only point of criterism: it is quite "over-the-top" that just Susans daughter Lisa turns out to be a lesbian, too.

Me entusiasma este tipo de novelas, tan lejos, o tan cerca, de la realidad en la que me muevo. Pero encuentro lo que busco, relax en una historia, que por muchos altibajos que haya, siempre encuentro un final feliz

One of my favourite Gerri Hill books – 5 stars This is a beautifully crafted romance, telling the story of the developing relationship between Shawn Weber and Susan Stirling. Having found her husband in bed with a younger woman, Susan leaves for their holiday cabin. Feeling both deeply hurt and angry, Susan encounters Shawn on one of her walks and the two quickly become friends. Shawn, who works at a women’s centre, immediately recognises that Susan needs someone to talk with and provides her that support. Gradually, their friendship develops into mutual attraction and the women, tentatively at first, explore their changing relationship. I really enjoyed the structure of this book, apart from the initial encounter between Shawn and Susan, nearly all the other scenes take place at the cabin. Written in a way that the reader becomes an observer of what goes on at the cabin, we learn not only about the developing relationship between Shawn and Susan, but also something of their lives leading-up to their first encounter. The story also introduces some wonderful secondary characters in the shape of Susan’s immediate family. In addition to the main story line, there are several sub-plots which serve to add interest. The book explores the relationship Susan has, not only with Shawn, but also with her daughter, sister, mother and estranged husband. Again, all the various scenes are played-out as the parties spend time at the cabin. Sometimes funny, occasionally exasperating, but also scattered with achingly beautiful moments of friendship and love, this is a book that examines the lead characters themselves, and those who touch their lives. Thoroughly enjoyable, and one of my favourite Gerri Hill books – No hesitation in recommending it to anyone who enjoys a classic lesfic romance.
