It easily holds a 2.5 lb loaf of bread from a bread machine and keeps it soft and moist. We have had no issues with bread molding, though a loaf only lasts our family about 5 days.The cutting board does mark badly when using it to slice bread, and we had marks after the first use. It has continued to mark, even though we became much more careful after the first time we noticed damage. You can see the marks in my second picture. Of course, these marks are on the inside of the breadbox when it is closed and not visible. However, I have other bamboo cutting boards that do not score nearly as easily.As of early last week (about a month after purchase), I noticed a longitudinal split in the bamboo that goes completely through the thickness of the top. Over the course of the week, the split has gotten worse, and I believe that my lid will soon be in 2 pieces. The slit appears to be occurring over a seam where the bamboo is joined. The lid has not been submerged in water or placed in the dishwasher--only wiped clean with a damp cloth.Based upon this damage, I cannot recommend this breadbox. A quality breadbox should last years, and I am experiencing damage that will eventually render the lid unusable. I put my all grain bread in the box, and after 4 days, there was massive amount of mold and moisture dripping from the lid!! I did expect the box to keep my store bought bread fresh. I did remove the plastic just like some of the pics from other reviewers. Normally when I keep this bread in fridge and keeping in in the original plastic, it lasts 3 weeks or more.so im not sure why others were raving about saving their bread here. if anyone has a suggestion please display it here and i'll look out for it. thanks ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very happy with this purchase *by J***E on Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2017* Very happy with this purchase.Before: By day 4, my bread would get moldy in a zip-lock or stale in a perforated bag.Now: I buy fresh-baked bread at Costco whenever it's still warm to the touch in the store. I cut 4-days worth of bread and place it the bread box and freeze the rest in a ziplock. When the breadbox is depleted, I cut out another 4-days worth from the frozen loaf and let it stand uncovered for about 2-3 hours, then enclose it in the bread box.I'm amazed. Fresh-baked bread that's frozen and thawed still tastes pretty much like fresh-baked bread.
