I purchased the original unit that uses these highly magnetic stud finders. IT WORKS. I have tried out 'stud' finders and were not happy. But these are great. I was afraid to loose the 3 that came with the original system to bought these as backups/etc. Great stuff. Highly recommend these.

I bought these to simplify the job of finding the metal nails that hold the plaster lathe to the ceiling joists of my 150+ year old house. I know there are nails in there because this isn't the first ceiling I've worked on in this house. These things find the nails in the wood trim in a snap, but they can't find them in the ceiling. I've since bought what I can only describe as dangerously strong Neodymium magnets elsewhere, slowly working my way up in strength, but still not being able to find the metal. Well, it turns out that the strength of these magnets really falls off after about an inch, regardless of how strong they are in direct contact, so if you lathe is really thick, magnets still might not work. All that said, I'm sure these will come in handy elsewhere, so I don't regret the purchase in the least.

Installed grab bar for my parents with these. Can see clearly where studs are, and no pencil marks needed. Worked like a charm! Really strong magnets! I have used several types of stud finders in the past. This is by far the best and easiest.

These stud finders are just ok. Why? Unless there is a nail in the wall you will never find a stud.

Works well. Sometime you have to move it back and forth up and down a while before the magnets stick to the wall. Product arrived when they said it would.

Misleading Advertising and a mistake on my part- asked to return within allotted time blew me off- never responded. Then I finally gave it to someone who had the holder and he stated that they were not round. This company is run by a bunch of mutt heads.

Bottom line is that it works. It's not easy to find the stud nails though. If you find one, the magnets will stick to the wall, but you may overlook it while moving the magnets around. You have to guess the edges of the stud once you find it.

I am a professional TV installer and these are better than any expensive stud finder. As long as you know the difference between a stud and a metal pipe, you'll do great with these. Just make sure the distance between studs measures out right. Best thing invented. You WILL lose a few of these so take extra care in knowing where they are after using them. These are the refill!
