Much better than the Fjorden or LUX Grip
Based on my initial experience, this is an impressive product. Having come from a background of using dedicated D/SLRs for years, I find using phone camera apps with touchscreens alone just doesn't work for the way I like to shoot. So a proper grip is essential to me to avoid lugging around another piece of gear during travel. For context, I bought and tried the original Fjorden grip years ago, but stopped using it after several attempts, for two big reasons. First, the physical dimensions are just too small for my large hands, making it fiddly and slow to use. But the biggest drawback I found wtih the Fjorden was that use in the field was cumbersomeโunlock the phone, select camera app, reconnect gripโbecause leaving the phone on and the screen active killed the phone battery in no time. The ProGrip addresses both these problems with the embedded battery charger, large grip, and hand strap. Granted, it lacks a dial and additional function buttons like the Fjorden or the overpriced LUX Grip, but I personally don't see that as a major issue for a phone-based setup (plus my experience with the Fjorden's laggy physical dial and zoom controls put me off using those controls with the screen readily available). Best of all, I confirmed that the ProGrip works with the Leica LUX camera app, as well as the default iPhone camera and Fjorden apps. It also comes with a very nice custom-molded case and a 2-year warranty, which I think is impressive in this day and age. One of the video reviewers griped about the plastic-y build, but frankly I find it pretty solid and don't see it as notably different from many dedicated cameras on the market at many multiples of the ProGrip's price point. Overall, I'm impressed with the ProGrip's features and the company's dedication to delivering a quality product. I look forward to taking it out for an extended spin.

Clearly a superior product, but pricey
Before purchasing the ShiftCam ProGrip I tried two other phone camera grips with bluetooth shutters available on Amazon - one for about $30 and one for about $40. I have concluded that when it comes to these devices, you get what you pay for. I've had the ShiftCam ProGrip for a week and today I was able to spend an entire afternoon using it to shoot photos and video with my iPhone 13 Pro. The ProGrip holds the phone securely - I was holding it down by my side when I wasn't shooting and walking around and I had no concerns about the phone falling out. When shooting, the grip is comfortable and the shutter button is well placed. After a little adjustment (loosening), the hand strap provides a secure means of holding the grip and the phone. I debated getting a wrist strap, just in case I dropped the phone while shooting, but with a properly adjusted hand strap I don't think I'll need a wrist strap. The shutter release worked EVERY time. With the less expensive grips the shutter release only worked 50% to 75% of the time and changed the phone's volume the rest of the time, rendering those less expensive grips unusable for serious photography and frustrating even for casual snapshots. The ShiftCam ProGrip easily rotates between landscape and portrait shooting without changing your grip, a nice feature. The less expensive grips require you to contort yourself to change orientation, as you would with a digital SLR, but doing that with a phone and a small grip is much more awkward than with an SLR. The wireless charging feature of the ProGrip worked well (my iPhone 13 Pro is in an Apple Mag Safe case). Just press the charge button on the ShiftCam ProGrip with the phone mounted in the grip and the phone immediately begins charging. You can download a template for lining up your phone for charging but I didn't need it with the Mag Safe case (just align the circle on the case with the circle on the ProGrip). You can charge and shoot at the same time and the ProGrip appears to have good battery life. My only complaint about the ProGrip is the price, but I've decided I'd rather spend the money for something that works very well. After investing $1,300 in a phone with an excellent camera, I had to ask myself what it's worth to be able to comfortably and securely use that phone to take pictures. I've decided the ShiftCam ProGrip is worth the money.

Excellent product
I had originally bought a Belkin grip with the same functionality as the ShiftCam ProGrip. It absolutely would not pair with my iphone 17 pro. I tried for several days, but I just couldn't get it to work. I returned it to Amazon and bought the ShiftCam instead. I absolutely love this. It always pairs immediately. It is very comfortable to hold and use and keeps my iphone completely charged. I highly recommend this. I am a professional photographer with a professional camera, but sometimes I just want to go out and shoot with my phone. This makes it so easy. Excellent product.

A Good Way to Start Expanding Your Photography Skills
DSRLs are super cool but huge and just one more thing to carry. I've also been wanting an attachment like the ProGrip, so it can let me take photographs and video much more naturally like any DSLR camera. This is probably the closest product to what I was looking for. I can use just about any DSLR attachment, as you can see with the Cold Shoe Mounts, elbows and accessories. There are only two reasons why it didn't get a 5 star review, there is no zoom lever or buttons and the cold shoe mount they provide. just sucks. It's not metal and it has a hard time staying put and needs retightening. But overall it's a great product. Super happy.

Grip bluetooth shuts off every time wireless charging is activated
Unboxing... the packaging is very nice and seems premium. All looked as expected. When I opened the box and removed the ProGrip, it looked brand new. All paperwork was included. Initial feelings, I like the ProGrip. I put my OnePlus 9 Pro into the cradle and it held it (with case) securely. Makes it feel like I am holding an SLR, which I am much more comfortable with. The Bluetooth pairing between the ProGrip and the 9 Pro was easy and reliable. The grip feels well built. I didn't experience any lag between the shutter button press and photo/video shoot. The ability to go from landscape to portrait by rotating the cradle is nice and smooth. About the wireless charging. The alignment of the OnePlus 9 pro to the wireless charging coil happens naturally, no fiddling around needed. Reasonable charging time... it's limited to 15 watts, but good enough. I like this feature in this grip. Save me from having to carry an additional battery. BUT... As I tested the unit, I noticed it does one thing I wasn't expecting... While shooting photos or video, I press the button to turn on the wireless charging... The Bluetooth on the grip shuts off. I attempted to turn it on... No dice. Checked that the bluetooth on my phone is on and it's all good. My phone and the grip are no longer paired. When I shut off the wireless charging, the Bluetooth on the grip is still off, but if I press the shutter button, it comes on and it pairs with my phone again. I try again to turn on the wireless charging, and again the Bluetooth shuts off. If this were to happen in a middle of a video shoot, I would not be able to stop the recording with the shutter button. I would have to press the button on the screen. Now, before you tell me it's an android thing, sorry to say it happens on my iPhone SE too. The same exact thing. Everything I read about this grip says that the wireless charging should be useable while shooting photos/video. Thia unit's inability to do this does not make this totally useless, but for the price paid, it's unacceptable. I am giving a rating of 3 stars because the grip is well built, has good features, but the issue with the wireless charging of this unit shutting off the Bluetooth detracts. I will be returning the unit to Amazon.

Works Right Out Of The Box
I got this for iPhone 15 Pro Max. Right out of the box it has worked perfectly. Bluetooth setup couldn't be easier and within about a minute, I was taking pictures with it. My phone, still in its normal protective case snapped right in. Shutter lag is no worse than the shutter lag you get while using just the phone. No more problems with cold hands or moving the camera as I would when depressing the volume controls to trigger the shutter. The grip gives me the same sort of feeling that one of my pro Nikon cameras offer as it feels much more secure in my hand than ever before. It seems to be well made and only time and use will tell. For now, this is just what I have been looking for. Here are a couple of photos that I took last night while eating dinner. I put the phone in the Pro Grip as I was walking out to my deck and shot several photos. It's that easy...

Hand strap failure
This initially looked like a iPhone 14 Pro Max product with a lot of solutions and features. The build quality is only fair at this price point. It is worth more like $45 dollars rather than $150. Perhaps the most annoying is that there is a substantial lag in the bluetooth shutter mechanism. In other words, you press the shutter and miss the perfect shot or video sequence due to the delay. Not acceptable at all. The item has an overall cheap plasticy feel and is not substantial or professional. The wireless charging mechanism does work, but not is very slow and the phone got very hot and stopped charging on two occasions with ambient temps in the 90s. The battery thing is a gimmick and only adds weight, not value at all. The REAL DEAL BREAKER was after the hand strap came loose for a second time. The first time the buckle thing loosened and my expensive phone fell on concrete! The second time it fell it hit a wood floor. WTF! This rig ships with elegant expensive packaging that will only add to the landfill. If Shiftcam had spent maybe fifty cents more on the hand strap and a lot less on excessive packaging... This SC device adds substantial weight to the phone, so I'm hoping that this heavier mass at impact did not damage the internal phone sensors with potential for early failure. I guess you could hack a better buckle or super glue it or something, but if the Chinese had spent a little more on engineering and devised a better fastening system, this would not be an issue. I returned this item because it was obviously not tested in real world situations and I don't intend to be a beta tester at this price point. So buyer beware. I did get a Smallrig cage and it is superior to the Shiftcam in every way. There is no time lag on the BT shutter release, it is super sturdy and fits perfectly with rubber shock proofing and has an excellent selection of lenses and other accessories ready to go. The packaging is simple and a much smaller amount of waste. Really, you need the Smallrig for your expensive phone's protection as well as future add ons.
