desertcart.com: Healing a Spouse's Grieving Heart: 100 Practical Ideas After Your Husband or Wife Dies (Healing Your Grieving Heart series): 9781879651371: Wolfelt, Alan: Books Review: A very compassionate book - This is a well written book on grieving. Touch most of my emotions to what I’ve been going through Dr. Allen is very caring In his written words on every step of the way of grieving and how everyone is different in their grieving process. Dr. Alan’s words have been very helpful and comforting. I can always go through this book again when I need some comforting words and knowing that my grieving is not unusual. That I can accept where I am and how I am in the grieving process. Dr. Alan gives ideas on how to work My way through grieving. I highly recommend this book. I read a few grieving books, but this is the best. Review: Healing One Strategy at a Time - This isn't a big book in page numbers but it is huge in helpful strategies. I haven't read the entire book but that is one of its strong suits. You can read a page (one strategy) or several. Each page offers both hope and help. A Carpe Diem at the end of the page gives a practical suggestion of something to help with the multitude of emotions and issues the grieving spouse will face. An example of one I found especially helpful (so far) is number 27, "Recognize that your friendships will probably change." The author validates the feeling that friends may appear to fall away and explain why this may happen. The Carpe Diem suggests talking to this friend and asking them to do something with you. Others often don't know how to help you and welcome your request. This is a very valuable book that offers practical suggestions for moving on with your life, very comforting and compassionate.

A helpful, easy read for the newly grieving
As a recent widow I've read several books on grieving. This one was the first and was given to me by a friend. It is not my nature to seek outside help, but this book was comforting and helpful. It is easy to open any page and read the passage but the intro was excellent also. If you've suffered a recent loss, this book will help you and let you know that you're not alone in what you're feeling.

Helpful book about loss
I ordered this book a few months after my fiancé passed away. If you’re a widow, or have lost a partner; whether you’re a young widow or an older widow; this book will help you. I promise you’re not crazy. From forgetting basic things, like how to spell simple words, not sleeping, eating or doing too much of both. It’s normal. This has helpful advice for investments, budgeting, surviving the holidays, and many more topics. If you’re reading this and you have lost a loved one, take it one day at a time. Don’t be hard on yourself. Be kind to yourself. Find a support group like Grief Share & get connected with others like you. Most importantly, remember every good time and memory you shared with your loved. Just because their no longer with us; doesn’t mean we forget them. Talk about them as much as you need to, to help you heal. A part of you may have died when your loved one died, that’s normal. That just means you loved deeply and you loved well. Hugs to all of you. ♥️♥️

A perfect gift for a grieving friend
This book was recommended by a friend who recently lost her husband. She found it on the net and said it was such a helpful and healing book for her. I bought 4 copies to give to friends who also had lost a spouse and were still having difficulties coping with the situation. Each friend either wrote a note or called to tell me how much this book was "spot on", how meaningful it was for them, and how much they appreciated the gift. I read it myself before sending it and found it also helped me with lost of my father and mother. The book is very easy to read and understand: it uses bullet points, instead of a narrative, for each one page chapter, and includes a positive "carpe diem" action to take at the end of the chapter. This book is a must read for you and your friends who have lost a spouse.

This is a great book and I just gave it to my dad ...
This is a great book and I just gave it to my dad after my mom passed away. He really liked it because- a. he has trouble focusing now and having things chunked and broken down into easy lists makes it easier for him to read b. it isn't too long and gets straight to the point c. all the information is practical and usable- he dog eared and made notes on many pages- he especially liked what it said about grief d. there isn't extraneous information that he doesn't want or need I would buy this book for anyone who lost a spouse and I intend to read it even though it was my mom that I lost- I really like the way the information is broken down.
