Review: WARNING PLEASE USE CAUTION - This is a great set and the price is below $60 bucks. It is pretty straight forward and has usage label for each dye. If the dye happens to be same color as your coolant just go to local auto shop and buy alternate color. Do not put anything in your engine gas coolant or engine oil that is not recommended for the car. If you are not mechanically inclined leave it to the professionals. That said if you are buying this it is because you want to do it yourself. The kit works and you will be able to service cars a few times the best part of this kit is the UV light that connects right onto the battery. This means you never have to buy batteries and the cord is very long so you can see all over the engine. The kit comes with everything you see in the video and the major set back is to not have a case. The more expensive kits come with carrying case but that will run you extra $20 bucks or so. How to check for leaks 1. Your first step is visual inspection oil will flow down and backwards because of gravity. so start from the back of the car and move forward. 2. Look for highest point oil is coming from and that should be source of your leak 3. Clean the area of oil or coolant or what ever fluid is leaking with break parts cleaner and a paper towel or wd40 both work well for cleaning grease and oils. 4. Turn engine on again to see where fresh oil or coolant or leak is coming from this will help locate the exact spot for the leak. 5. If you still did not find leak manually then time for some uv dye. pour dye into fluid you are testing. (again you should clean area FIRST before putting in dye to get better results. be careful when injecting dye into pressurized systems so make sure to weak gloves and goggles. 6. Start the car after putting in dye and let the dye circulate through the system after 2-3 minutes turn engine off and connect your uv light and put on glasses and follow steps 1-2.and you should find your leak 7. Typical places for leaks are connection points hoses being cracked or broken, bolts being loose or seals being work, or maybe no leak at all just a sloppy mechanic who poured oil all over the place or didn't tighten oil filter. hope this advice helps if so please click the helpful link and let me know. and good luck with your leak job. this test works for any year make or model.
Review: Every thing you need in one box! - A great deal!, as a retired master mechanic (over 46 yerrs at GM), used and wore out many different types of leak detectors, many were usless! Battery types are never bright enough and sniffer types wear out quick and after spending as much as 600 (pre covid) bucks on some they just dont work well or last! The best is 3 ways, One is use your eyes, use a black light and use a liquid spray bottle. This kit has all 3 including both a/c and coolant dector dye. Every thing you need, well made and the best deal out there!! I had a blue point that lasted over 30 yeas till my pit bull ate it, cant afford Snap On now; this is better!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long should i keep the engine running for UV dye to show up? And do i have to rev it or just idle it?**
A: Since I used the fluorescent dye to detect leaks from the power-steering system I had to drive my car around for approx 15 mins to actually see where it was leaking from. At idle I couldn't see any leaks. After the drive the leak was pretty obvious and the UV light picked it up right away.

**Q: are glasses included?**
A: Yes. They are an amber/yellow color

**Q: does it come with dye for a/c**
A: Yes it comes with a/c dye

**Q: Can the kit be used to identify transmission leaks?**
A: transmission leak should b readily identifiable by the red tint already in the fluid to b sure either water blast or at least hose off under hood all oils and then get on fairly clean surface to see if red oil shows up keep in mind u could have more than one leak and some people will put trans fluid in power steering complicating matters

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works Well
*by D***. on August 3, 2025*

Good quality light, dye injector didn't work at all, the connector does not fit R-134a refrigerant systems so don't count on that but the light on the other hand works very well when it stays together. The lens started falling out during use about the 6 or 7th time using it. I believe the rubber that retains the lens does not like heat very well and loses its strength to hold in the glass lens. If you can figure out that problem the light works great.
