The price was very comparable to Home Depot. The first and only chop saw I had owned was a tool sale special. It lasted about 8 years. Great value for the money. Not that easy to work with. I took this out of the box and cut some 1 1/2" square tubing. I changed between the 90 degree and 45 degree cuts with ease. Much better than the standard saw I had used before. Each swap was quick and easy. Usually I would try to cut each angle separately and then change to the other to finish all cuts. This was so fast and easy to change back and forth that I cut each piece as needed. I am a home hobbyist and wanted a durable chop saw that was going to last. I feel very confident in purchasing this saw. One of the good features of the quick change back stop is being able to move it forwards and backwards on the table with ease. This is especially useful when your blade gets smaller. Some of those cuts I couldn't make with a smaller blade, I think I can now. The blade that comes with the saw is great. Fast cuts and high quality. Due to a mistake on my part, I ruined the first blade. I didn't have my metal secured and it slipped and ruined the blade. The D28715 strictly uses abrasive wheels, which wear out. DR872 uses carbide tipped blade, which lasts longer, cuts faster, cuts thicker material, and supposedly gives you lower cost "per cut" because you're not wearing down and replacing abrasive wheels. Abrasive wheels are also known to break apart and fly all over the place. It's scary when that happens, and you learn quickly to hold your material to be cut firmly in the grip, and to not put any kind of torque onto it at all. When you do, you dig into the wheel and it breaks apart. I have the D28715, and I used it to make about 250 linear feet of iron railing. Used it for probably 1,000, mainly on 1/4 solid bar stock, but also on the railings, plus other stock for various projects. Went through maybe half a dozen abrasive wheels, which weren't very expensive. By comparison, one carbide tipped blade should have held out for the whole project.I'm very happy with the D28715. If I was a contractor looking at daily use, or I had a mountain of material I needed to cut quickly, I might consider DW872. But for home use, I wouldn't spend the extra 200 bucks. **Q: Can I use a 12" diamond blade I already have and cut landscape pavers?** A: This saw has a 1" Arbor, so if your blade does as well, it will fit. While this saw is made for a 14" blade, it has adequate plunge to accommodate a 12" blade even though the width of material from the backstop won't be able to be as wide. **Q: How does this (D28715) compare to the DW872 besides price?** A: Im not sure.
