They work fine, not too fiddly once you get used to
Update 12/03/2024: I have used 2 for one year and half now, and they still work fine (provided I do not overfill the pod, which is not an issue with the caps in themselves) so I am rasing the rating to 5 stars. ======= I pulled a few hundreds shots with these, and they are in no worst shape than when they got out of the box. So they are durable. Easy to displace as well, I ended up buyinga second set after misplacing one, but tha tis hardly the product fault. They was well and do not interfere with the barcodes underneath (if you never used one before, these caps are to be used with a recycled nespresso pod. The top film must be removed carefully, a staney knife works well for that, and them tu can reflll with your own coffee and cover with one of these caps before putting it in the machine). The failure rate is low, not more than 10 times over 200 shots, probably less. This is normally due to overfilling the pod or missing to clean the sides. The flavour is not much worst than the original pods, or just the same, dependently mainly on how precisely your grind and fill the pod. I have to say that I am not a huge fan of even the original pods, it is an espresso but not a great espresso anyway. But then I am Italian, so perhaps I set the bar too high. Filling up the pods is easy enough, after some practise, and I do not bother with micro scales and assorted malarkey. If you can fill a moka properly, you can fill this too. It is not like I am pulling espresso on a marzocco or anything.. It takes just 30 seconds or less, between emptying the old pod (with the film already removed of course, that takes a few minutes) , washing cap and pod, refilling and covering. The grind is finer than moka, much finer than filter of course, but coarser than espresso. One needs to experiment a bit initially, and to keep a note of the grinder settings perhaps, if used for other grinds too. The reason I am giving it four stars is: - One of the caps came with the edge slightly damaged. It does not seem to affect functionality or durability, but it grinds me a bit because they cost nearly £6 each. - It would be nice of them to include a little transparent measuring cup with grades for the various sizes of pods, that would save some experimenting. Anyway , they need to be filled loosely (even the new pods ar enot too filled, you can hear the coffee moving when shaking them). They save considerable money , I spent £24 on caps, plus £30 on a variety pack, which I did not even finish but it allowed me to test le different kind of pods (the bar codes are different and will yield slighty different results). If buying pods here n amazon, I have already saved nearly £150 If buying direct from nespresso, I still saved £70 on the cheapest they do. Finally, the worst cost of using new pods is the amount of waste, particularly if you drink several per day in the family. This eliminates waste entirely

It really works well!
I was a bit unsure after reading a few of the more negative reviews but after a couple of false starts I watched the video and it now works perfectly every time. Pay particular attention to the bit in the video where the coffee is piled loosely, with a central peak. Initially I tamped the coffee down and this did not work - it produced an error in the Nespresso Vertuo Next. Same problem if you don’t put enough coffee in the capsule. You should use one measure in the espresso capsule and two in the mug capsule. Then when you put the lid on this pushes the coffee down enough to compact a little. You then get a perfect, full flavour coffee with a perfect crema! FURTHER IMPORTANT INFO: After several months of making perfect coffee coffe it stopped working. At first I thought it was the machine - had it checked out and machine was OK. After trying different things I noticed that the printing on the outside of the recycled nespresso captule was mostly worn off and after further investigation I found out that the stripes on the inner rim of the capsule are a barcode that tells machine what capsule is in it. New capsule together with the MADAMA - Reusable top and it is now back to perfect coffee every time!

These reusable lids are saving a fortune
Great and essential device, l’m just working on finding the best coffee to make a latte. The product is environmentally good as well as not too much bother to use. I think the price is outrageous but hopefully not one I’ll have to encounter too often.

Good and work, but not sure how good they are for the machines.
I bought these and they work well once you realise they sit on the coffee and do not wrap around the pod. My only issue is that the place where you put the pod sticks in the downward position when using this after a few times and is difficult to get back up again. Now sure how good that is for the machine.

Works well…sometimes
These are good quality lids. They fit the Vertuo capsules nicely. When they work, they work well. However, I’ve found that about 50% of the time the machine stops half way through a cycle displaying a solid red light. This can only be overcome by opening the lid, so that’s the end of the coffee in that pod wasting plenty of coffee. Shame. I’ve used sticky foil lids before which worked really well but I wanted something that produced less waste. These don’t seem to be the solution. Update: after a couple more weeks of using these lids I’ve downgraded to 1 star. My Vertuo machine keeps giving the red indicator light when I use these lids, and is asking for a descale cycle so often the machine is becoming unusable. Perhaps a coincidence but for the 12 months I was using sticky foil lids I had none of these issues. I’d love to return these lids but that window has closed. If anyone wants a couple, I’d happily give them away.

My too expensive to use coffee machine now lives again.
Some years ago I bought a Vertuo coffee machine as we had one at work & I liked the coffee it made and with the vertuo you get a decent sided one too at 230ml. I drink a lot of coffee well I say that but probably about 4 mugs a day so at current pod prices that’s around £3 a day or £21 a week £84 a month. However I like a certain cheap supermarkets Kenyan beans which costs £2.69 for 227g which lasts a week or just over £10 a month saving £70 a month or £840 a year! With a relatively cheap coffee grinder purchased here & these reusable silicon caps I can enjoy good inexpensive coffee at a fraction of the Nespresso price. Easy to use & reuse the original pods time & time again - definitely a good purchase & can’t recommend enough.

Fantastic little hack. Would recommend, just make sure the lid is flush with top of the pod.

None of the issues some other people mentioned happened for me so far. Not a single grain of coffee got outside the capsule after like 50 uses already, coffee was just as good as from a normal capsule. Except you can make it better, because you can choose your own coffee. I always thought the coffee from the original nespresso capsules was pretty good, i liked it at least. But turns out, most of that weight carries the machine and how it works. The original coffee isnt too special, and with some normal bio coffee i use, standard pre-ground grain size, that tasted much better to me then making the same coffee pour-over. Now, thats just my taste, and i didnt find my absolute favorite coffee yet, but i think if you have or find some REALLY good coffee, it will be better then the original capsules easily, which are just much too overpriced, which is why you are probably here reading this. So if you have the machine already, and want to use your own much cheaper coffee, this probably the best product. Yes, its a bit expensive too for just 2 silicon caps, but they work, and will save you more money in the long run for sure. They dont feel like they will fail anytime soon. And yes, one "problem" could be that you need an original capsule, but you probably have a few still, and if not, just buy one more pack of 10, and those will last you for a looong time, because theyre not too flimsy either, as you probably noticed already, theyre quite stable aluminium. From every single custom capsule from other sellers, ive read reviews that machines sometimes just dont work with them, so i choose this one instead, because the machines will for sure work with the capsules made for them, and it really doesnt notice the different cap at all. One last thing, i have found that for me, one exact standard coffee-spoon full is the perfect amount for a normal size capsule that fills 330ml. Which actually saves me coffee too, because before, when i made it pour-over, i needed 3 spoons for 600ml to get a good full taste. But experiment a bit with the amount, you might like a bit more or less, likely depends on the coffee too. Didnt try espresso with these yet, and obviously it wont be as good as from a real espresso machine, but that was the case with the original espresso capsules too, so thats just the machine. But for normal coffee, its very nice imo.
