Cry Baby Coloring Book

What I want parents to take away from this review is this: be aware of what your children listen to, what they seek out, the things that they relate to. It's worth a conversation. What I want Crybaby fans to take away from this is that this book is a very accurate representation of the album, featuring Pacify Her and Alphabet Boy and all the songs off the album. The pictures speak to the message, once you open it you immediately know what song it is and what lyrics stood out to make the page. Worth the buy if you're a fan, and definitely a great pair up with the album and its videos. I'd buy it again (and I might after I finish it.) Now, Crybaby is an alter ego of Melanie's who has suffered serious abuse as a child and never recovered. The theme is childhood, but this is not safe for kids. The album Crybaby is an exploration of that character's journey toward becoming more comfortable in her own skin and coming to terms with her past. One of the songs on the album is a clear allusion to kidnapping, another is about rape, and another is about family dysfunction. This coloring book represents all of that, paints it into pictures featuring Crybaby herself. There's a page where Crybaby is lying on the floor in front of a fridge that says "F You" in magnet letters (see Melanie's video Alphabet Boy) and another is of Crybaby screaming and struggling while a man in a mask carries her toward an ice cream truck (see Tag, You're It). A lot of Melanie's fans, excuse me a handful, have experienced child abuse themselves or maybe rape or kidnapping. I am one of those people. Crybaby has helped me feel less alone, and this book lets me express that pain. Let me be honest and critical. There have been seventeen reviews of this product as of my writing this, and a lot of them have said that this book is inappropriate, awful, disgusting etc. Do not buy this book if you do not know anything about Melanie Martinez or the Crybaby album, which this coloring book is based off of. Those customers who saw the cover of the book and immediately went "oh I'll buy this for my friend's kid" without knowing what Crybaby is made a -I'm sorry- an incredibly ignorant decision. If you are a parent, you need to listen to Melanie Martinez's Crybaby album (watch the music videos too) and THEN consider if this book is appropriate for your young kids. Simply buying a coloring book without knowing what's in it is dangerous, and that has been proven. Research the things you purchase for your children online, please, because this book and the album are not child-friendly and you'd know this beforehand if you were aware of the target audience of Melanie Martinez products. everything came as it should’ve been and the pages were super cute i bought this for my sisters birthday like last year i think cause she loves melanie and she loved the book i don’t remember too much about the actual cover but it looked like the picture and was pretty soft it’s a cool book and the pages were super cute i think the moms in the reviews are ignorantly buying it because they assumed it was for children, just do research don’t blindly buy stuff without knowing about it, don’t mind the sour susans its a cute book just buy it, only pictures i have are pages my niece colored and unfortunately ruined with her bad coloring skills cause she was like six but i love her so i kept them anyway but don’t mind em the pages were cute and good quality

I only have myself to blame as I did not read the reviews or pay attention to the parental advisory in the description, but I purchased this for my 12 year old who loves Melanie Martinez. She added it to her Easter wishlist and I just purchased it thinking it was a regular coloring book. She started to use it and showed me it had a “F*** you” page. Oops. I took the page out and then my husband and I had a good laugh afterwards. Great coloring book for teens and adults that love MM though. A parental advisory on the cover also would have been extremely helpful.

I was so excited to found out Melanie was releasing a coloring book! I've been a huge fan of hers since she was a contestant on The Voice, and LOVE her music, and everything she puts out in general. (I honestly listen to Cry Baby more then I probably should on a daily basis, haha.) Anyway, I fell in love with the artwork for this album and always hoped she would come out with a full book of the artwork with the story for the album (like a children's book) but never thought it was possible. That was months ago, last week I had the pleasure of finding out she was releasing this wonderful little coloring book and pre-ordered instantly! I just received it today, and am extremely pleased with it. I'm going abroad in two weeks, so the arrival for this couldn't be more perfect. With some adult coloring books, you can't use markers or gel pens due to the artwork being on both sides. This isn't the case for Melanie's book.at all, which is perfect for those (like myself) who want to use pastel gel pens to color in her character Cry Baby. (I'd still be a bit weary using markers though- for those who want to do that.) Also, I like that it's not a lengthy coloring book. I've had a few random ones bought for me before, and those have left me wondering when I was ever going to get through every detailed page. While the art in this is detailed, it's only 40 pages so you know you'll get through it in at least a day. Overall, buy this if you're a huge fan of Melanie's. It's perfect for any occasion, and worth the price. I hope to see more books from Melanie in the future!

I’m a massive Melanie Martinez fan ever since her album crybaby came out ive loved her there was like 2 stains on the back and it took long to deliver but overall is amazing great for Mel fans (and it’s my first peice of merch<3)

Bought twice, good condition and no bending on paper either times bought. Love using this colouring in book to turn crybaby into my characters (sorry crybaby haha)
