I will be using this as a limit switch on a horizontal bandsaw. am i correct on my understanding that contacts are rated at 10a @ 300vac?

You could, but I would recommend keeping it under 5A for highly inductive loads if you want the contacts to last. Consider having the limit switch drive a relay.

If this cuts the power when the switch is activated, how is power provided to reverse direction?

There are 6 terminals inside the switch. Switch can be wired so that movement of arm in either direction starts or stops current flow. Or wired so that movement of arm in one direction powers in that direction ar movement of arm in opposite direction sends power to that direction. Switches so farm have performed perfectly.
