This is pretty cool. We tried it at 5wits in the mall. And worked great. So had to get cause kids had a blast and still have a blast with it. Record what you hear what is cool. Has a scope to look through. Gets a good distance on hearing. Headphones are pretty comfortable. Kids and us adults love it. Easy to use. Takes a couple batteries. Pull trigger to listen and point.

I'm returning this as its not all at even toy listing Quality. My son was complaining and I dismissed him as it is a toy. But upon his 5th request I definitely tried and understood his frustration. It's the worst amplified listening I've ever heard. It's garbled and muffled yet boom. And unless your in id say 10-12 ft of whatever you wanna hear it's useless to make anything definitive out. Otherwise it's just like living next to a busy hwy. Lots of indistinguishable loudish"" sound. No good. Id rather spend 50 or even 100 more. Close 200 to get him something that works as this 50 dollars isn't quite toy price. If I was to guess on performance and quality of material I'd guess its a 20 dollar secret Santa gift. Not 60 dollars highly advertised and recommended by Amazon. Im starting 5o question Amazon promotional system. I would expect them not to sign off on just any cheap junk thsts sold at ridiculous prices here. I would expect it more like wayfare at least. Same cheap whoever can warehouse the most gets the cheapest deal ( already cheap for them anyway or anyone ordering in bulk from the various bulk overseas web stores. As such when its all cheap I expect them to rate only the best of the cheapest stuff. I'm really not sure if any of the other they sell actually work as they look exactly the same. Just some branding differences I suppose depending on who bulk order and add a brand.. its seemingly simple. As such ill file this under lesson learned as I did with any networking "deal" for electronics. Seems like those aren't there strongest products. There are some jems..but this isn't the one don't get the hassle of having to run around returning things or that look on your kids face when the thing they really worked hard to earn sucks. And that to soon for life to show them that's what to expect.. toys are not suppose to be real life yet ha. Anyway if nothing else at least it's a conversation item as if it's laying around his friends and there parents ask if works and if they borrow it. Would of rented it out if would have worked.. ha.

Not very good quality and the audio screeches about half the time. The 12 second recording doesn't always work. Cool idea, not very well done.

Its possible that the negative reviews are from people who listened and used the recording feature directly from the device itself, and not as how I describe below. So if that's the case, I would agree the sound quality is not good. I rated this highly, because I connected this device to my small digital recorder, and listened to the parabolic sound through my digital recorder via my personal headphones. Procedure: I connected my small digital recorder to the parabolic device with an audio cord that's plugged into the audio (out) jack on the device, to the MIC jack on the recorder . I start my digital recorder ON RECORD, then press the hearing lever on the dish device. After I've captured what I wanted, I stop hearing from the device, by lifting finger off the lever, and then stop the recording on my digital recorder. I playback the sound on my digital recorder an it's just as I heard it through the headphones - which has the quality parabolic sound.

Separate 9Volt battery was kind of difficult to insert. Took me 3 days on separate occasions to actually make it fit and made it stick with a piece of tape because it won’t go back on all the way. Sort of upset, the product was made fairly on the cheap side , even for its price we should’ve all gotten more. It pumps up the sound in your immediate environment fairly well but doesn’t really hear nature very well outside (like bird listening). It does work, but not as well as I hoped after numerous tries.

So far it works, amplifies sound well that I could barely hear. The only problem is how easily the eyepiece falls off and is very hard to reinstall. I got it back on, but now it does not focus as well as it had. Maybe the instructions could deal with that

Bought this with somewhat reservation noting the negative comments about it. Believe in those negative comments. They are the truths. This item is a pure piece of garbage, not worthy even as a toy to give to any child with any level of intelligence expecting audio enhancement or change in any level of sound. It functions so poorly, there is no noise it picks up that your naked ears couldn't hear. In fact, it couldn't even pick up the sound of birds chirping outside or the cat licks sitting by the window box in front of the window closed. My ears could pick up those sounds loud and clear. Don't waste your time with this crap. Amazing this is still being sold.

It does have a bit extra white noise but recording into a digital recorder then loading to a computer can allow this to be dialed out a bit. It isnt something the FBI would use so don't thinknof it that way. I bought it to locate hard to find birds, chipmunks, squirrels, etc on my protected habitat land to keep records of the comings and goings of the wildlife. It works great for that. I would add that putting lady's nylons over the sound shell helps reduce wind noise. As well, it is sensitive to hand movement on the handle so don't be afraid to wear a cotton "butchers glove" or wrap some foam around it. I backed the shell with thin memory foam and it helps dramatically in cutting down ambient noise coming from directions other than where you point it. The bottom line is all these type of listening devices in the price range are going to have these issues. A little time and effort and it can be a really useful piece for a number of uses. Like anything else...you gout out what you put in.

Awful product, probably the worst I have bought during this year. one part of the camera lent arrived broken. Regarding the range is absolutely useless, I can hear more without it than when using it. Bad quality, you cannot even listen clearly the chirping from birds standing in your front garden with this. Check for other products that are cheaper and more efficient.

Avoid at all costs ... company can't seem to ship items properly to arrive on time, and when the second replacement unit arrived, it didn't work at all. Very poor quality control and product ... if I could give it zero stars, I would have. Update: My son had his heart set on getting this spy gear device, so we ordered yet another unit (unit #3) and surprise surprise, when this unit showed up it doesn't work other than just a clicking sound in the headphones when the trigger is squeezed but no other sounds are heard. Complete garbage and a waste of time and resources ... I am now convinced even if it had worked, it probably won't last long if this is any indication ... will be returned at Amazon's expense.
