One of the best Earbuds
I haven't had the pleasure of using many earbuds apart from Sony Earbuds. The LG Tone stuck out to me, from the battery case to the earbuds themselves they were very well done and the fact that is has UV to clean the earbuds when charging is a very nifty addition. The earbuds themselves are comfortable, and as always the noise cancellation depends on which ear tip your using, if it doesn't sound like the noise is getting cancelled out then most likely the ear tips are not the right ones for you. Overall the noise cancellation is a 10/10 for me, it was super quiet in the plane. Comfort is a 9/10, I have some pretty small earholes so after hours of use it gets uncomfortable for me. Microphone is a 10/10, clear and crisp are the complements that I've heard from my friends getting my phone calls while using these earbuds. Battery is a solid 10/10 this won't die on you during a 20 hour plane ride. Sound Quality, 8/10 (normal sound) 10/10 (3D sound) I found the 3D sound to be the best setting on the app's Eq, it sounded the best and it really allows the earbuds to perform at its best, the bass surprised me, it was really damn good. Update after a year: the adhesive holding the earbuds together stopped holding the earbuds together. I don't know how that's possible but one day I just put it on and the whole thing fell apart. Maybe some quality control issues? The other one is still good and works but without the right earbud it leaves a lot to be desired. It was good while it lasted.

LG Tone Free FP9 - very good for music, excellent for audiobooks and podcasts.
I love the LG Tone Free FP9 earbuds. I also purchased two of the older FP8 earbuds in excellent condition for a very low price. The FP9 and FP8 are identical if you exclude the case functionality. The earbuds (8 and 9) fit and stay in my ears comfortably. They are so comfortable that often I forget that I am wearing them. The earbud touch functions work well with click tone verification of each touch. Since I mostly use bluetooth earbuds to listen to audiobooks (at least four hours per day), comfort, battery life, and functionality in mono mode are the highest priorities for me. For functionality, skip back (prev track) is a must have for listening to books. Being able to set skip back on both earbuds so that I can swap earbud use is important. I highly recommend these earbuds because of the feature set. I own dozens of bluetooth earbuds (Samsung, Soundcore, Earfun, Sony) and the most used are the Tone Free and Sony neckband earbuds. The silicone case accessory makes carrying the FP9 earbud case very accessible. Pros: Long battery life normal 9 to 10 hours as manually tested. ANC mode hi low option Ambient mode hi low option App (IOS and Android) control of LG earbuds Earbud fits well in my ear, can stay in overnight while I sleep Single earbud use allows full configure of pause, fwd/prv, volume up/down. Small pocketable case - good silicone cases available on Amazon, keep FP9 case closed while hanging from my belt loop. NanoUV disinfection feature Wireless connection to 3.5 mm jack - turns any 3.5mm earphone jack into a bluetooth connection to the FP9. Great bass and other eq, including two custom eq Beep on each earbud touch unless TouchPad settings are disabled Great for audiobook, podcast listening due to great single earbud use. All earbud touch settings work in mono mode. Less expensive than Apple Airpods, Samsung buds, Sony xm4 Battery life of earbuds in one percent detail Very light earbuds Great 5 minute charge for 1 hour feature Low latency game mode Auto pause when earbud removed from ear disable option Very easy to re-pair to new device Cons About one and a half additional charges from fully charged case based upon manual testing. No wireless charging of FP9 case. The FP8 provides wireless charging in place of wired bluetooth function.

5 Star product all the way! But had to keep 1 star because....
So I am writing this while still listening to these (have about 5 hours in them so far) and let me just say I am really impressed. I'm kind of a headphone junkie (not an audiophile, there is a difference). I have the Airpods Pro, Galaxy Buds Pro, Surface Earbuds, Powerbeats Pro, Studio Buds, Sony Linkbuds, had WF-1000xm3 (returned them because the mics were HORRIBLE and I have to have good mics on all my buds because I use them for calling constantly). But for these FP9s the $137 I paid is just incredible and there is so much to like but with a few kind of big issues. Let's break it down: PROs: - Comfort: Love the fit!! I use the large eartips and they are just great. Lightweight, low profile, and even the case is just a wonderful feel in the hand. Nice seal in the ear as well. - ANC: This one shocked me. For $137 the ANC is fantastic. Coming from someone who owns Bose 700s, WH-10000XM5s, XM4s, and Surface Headphones for over-ears, these do a GREAT job of isolation and cancelation for in-ears and in my opinion punch quite a bit above their price class! - Color: Obviously this is subjective but gold is tough to pull off without looking tacky and honestly if they hadn't done it so well, I would not have bought these, but wanted gold in my collection so here I am. - Features: the analog dongle for the case and UV sanitation are just so cool. I mean come on, it may be a bit gimmicky but it worked, I love those features and the corded option is actually super useful. This next week I'm gonna try it with TEAMs and see if it makes for a good virtual calling solution ovr BT. - Audio/Call Quality: This is a mixed bag and gonna be in the Pros and Cons so hang in there. 95% of the audio is great. Mids, highs, clarity are great. Trade blows with good headphones! There are better but there are also MUCH MUCH wworse. CONS: - Updating: Let me get the star killer out of the way first!!! This is the thing that MADE me HAVE to give 4 stars when literally EVERYTHING else deserves 5. UPDATES ARE ATROCIOUS!!!!!!!! Out of the box mine needed an update. It took 9 TRIES TO COMPLETE. It kept failing! In my ears, on the table, in the case, close to the phone, on top of the phone, app on top, app minimized, ANC on/off. I even left my house since it has a TON of wireless interference with my wifi and all my smart devices. Still failed. SO WHAT DID IT!!!? The last thing I could think of, I had to disconnect my Galaxy Watch 4 from my S22 Ultra's Bluetooth. Then it passed first time.... Come on LG, seriously this kind of buggy crap is ridiculous in 2022! I started thinking "I knew it, I shouldn't have given LG a chance!" But lucky for you LG I wanted to like these SOO bad due to the innovative features, I fought through it. At one point I even had to reset the headphones to factory because one earbud was completely unresponsive and couldn't be found by the case. This lost the star which hurts but for anyone else experiencing this they would have probably done worse. Very disappointing but let's move on. - No "Speak to Talk": This 2nd one is another big one for me! Having been daily driving the Galaxy Buds Pro and WH-1000XM5 lately (got XM5s launch day and spent 6-10 hours in them daily since) I was disappointed to see these don't have a "speak to talk" mode. What I mean is you can't start talking and have "Transparency" mode kick in automagically, you have to toggle it with touch gesture or in app. This was a feature I just assumed these had given how innovative they are, and one I use/rely on daily. It's nice to have ANC on, then walk up to someone and speak, it flip to Transparency, then 10 seconds later auto enable ANC again. But nope. Sad Day. - Sound: Here is the CON counterpart to sound. Even with "Bass Boost" these don't have fantastic bass, it can sound a smidge "tinny". I know these are small earbuds but my Galaxy Buds Pro blow these away on base so I was a tad underwhelmed and I'm not a bass heavy guy. - Ear Tips: lastly (and this is gonna be nit picky so skip if you just want the conclusion) the eartips are sticky which make for a great seal, but the problem is they are so thin they turn inside out every time I take them out of my ears and I have to correct them before they go back in the case. Just a little thicker at the fold point and problem solved. Not big, just an annoyance. That's it folks. I love these earbuds! So portable, light, affordable, and just full of innovation and surprises. I think LG is on their way to some great earbuds if they keep improving. Quick Tip: Another suggestion LG is please make your EQ levels viewable and an option to edit 1 part and save as a "Custom" EQ. Sony has this and I use the crap out of it. Back to the conclusion, if you are looking for a great pair of unique headphones from a company I never expected to get it right, buy these. They far exceeded my expectations (and yet nailed others with that poor update issue). I would not spend $200 for these. At that prive get the Galaxy Buds Pro as those are my favs all around up until now (Can be had for $149 if you are patient); but if you can still get these for $137, snag them!! They are a great "Bang for Buck" earbud. Happy listening.

Affordable Earbuds Packed with Features and Superior Sound
Despite a couple of minor drawbacks—the battery case losing charge quickly and the earbuds occasionally staying connected after being disconnected—these earbuds truly impress. They offer exceptional comfort and simple usability, complemented by a stable, crash-free app experience. The sound quality is outstanding, delivering rich and clear audio. Considering the features and performance, finding earbuds of this quality for just $80 is a rare and fantastic value.

Great Quality buds
Very nice earbuds in quality. The sounds are rich and vibrant for both music and media. I personally don't use them for talking on the phone but they work well enough. There is a nice whisper mode fearure where you take out one bud and hold the other near your mouth to speak and it comes off clear. I like the small size of the charger and overall package. Another key feature is the charger can independently connect to any 3.5 audio out and wireless connect to the earbuds. This is great for monitors without speakers or low sound but can be useful in many situations. The battery life is solid 7-10 hours depending on the quality mode. The app has many features to adjust the sound to your preferences. Also if you lose your earbud the app can help you locate it with a beeping sound. Lastly the UV bacteria killing light is a sweet extra touch. All around very useful pair of earbuds that does more than it's competitors. Very satisfied.

Light and comfortable
These things are great. I also have a set of Soundcore that will give you a hearing test and customize the sound profile to your specific needs, and even using the presets that come with these buds, I find I have the same great sound. I listen to a lot of music and stream videos (YouTube as well as movies) and the channel separation of these buds is superior. The sound quality is so accurate that in one movie I was watching the other evening, there was a phone ringing in the background and I took one of the buds out thinking I had to answer my own phone. There are several other reviews here that give detailed breakdowns of the technical aspects of the earbuds and even though the numbers tell you something about the buds, the final judgment has to be what they actually sound like to the user. As lightweight as these are, it is hard to imagine that they can produce both the volume and frequency spectrum that they have. I do wish they came with a few more silicone tips in more sizes. The largest tips are just a tad too small for me, but they still offer a good seal and sound isolation. Aside from the passive isolation, the noise cancelling mode is excellent and is better than the ANC on my other buds. I have only connected them to my smartphone and my laptop so far. The initial setup is a snap and MUCH faster than either of the other two buds I have had. They quickly connect to whichever device I want to use. The battery life is fantastic and I have only gotten a low power warning once after a very long listening session. I didn't try the 5 minute in the case for an additional hour of use, but I am sure it would work as advertised. The only nit I have to pick is the perfectly symmetric shape of the case. The case is small and convenient to carry in a pocket, but if you want to open it in low light conditions, it is hard to figure out which direction to hold the case to pull the top open. I may end up painting a white stripe on the top of the case at the edge on the top center of the lid. I watched a lot of YouTube video reviews and demos of the LG earbuds before I finally placed my order and they meet or exceed all expectations I had. One of the deciding points for me in getting the more expensive FP9 instead of the FP8 earbuds is the ability to use the case as a Bluetooth link to devices that only have a headphone jack. If we ever get to travel again, I would much rather use these on flights than having to carry a wired earbud or use the cheap junk they give you on the aircraft. The fact that I sacrifice wireless charging is no big deal and a minor concession compared to the added ability of more universal uses. UPDATE 9/25/2023 - I have discovered another nit to pick. 1st - the charge on the buds don't seem to last as long as advertised. 2nd - also a complaint about the earbud charging. After sitting in the charging case for 18 hours straight, one but or the other will announce "Batter Charge Very Low. Please Plug In to Charge". This will sometimes happen after only suing the buds for 30 minutes to an hour. The right bud is the one that it seems to occur with the most, but I experience it with both. The case will have a full or good charge in it so I don't know why I have the problem with the earbuds charging. I make sure the contact points are clean and even shift the buds back and forth over the contact points to make sue they have a good charging connection. I have a set of Soundcore NC buds that I have been using for over 2 years and have never experienced a similar problem with them. UPDATE #2 10/04/2023 - I have dropped my rating from a 5 down to a 3. The longer I use these buds the more frustrating they become due frequently getting a low batter alert when they have been snugly sitting in a fully charged base for 24 hours. To begin with it seemed like only the right but would have this problem but more and more both buds are acting up. Tonight I was using them for a total of about 15 minutes when the left bud chimed in. I have cleaned the contact points on the earbuds and the mating points in the case and nothing seems to help. I have started grinding them into position when I place them in the case and that seems to help some. It is not like they are in my pocket and being jostled around during the day. These are strictly my "at home" buds and stay on an end table next to my chair. I have a separate pair of buds that I walk in and subject to sweat, rain, and environmental stresses. I have never once had a problem with them of any sort. I think my patience is at its limit and these will be placed in semi-permanent storage and I replace them with a nice pair of Soundcore Liberty 4 NC buds. Every product I have ever purchased from them has been excellent. UPDTE 12/12/23: I have to say that I have about had it with these earbuds. The case indicates that it has a full charge, however, after using the buds for around 2 hours I get the audio warning that the power on the right earbud is extremely low and it needs to be charged now. It always seems to be the right bud. I have cleaned the contacts on both the earbuds and the contact points in the case. I have even burnished the contact points with an abrasive pencil eraser. The only thing I have found that helps for even a little while is to put the buds in the charging case and press down firmly and grind them into the contact points. That seems to work for a couple of weeks and then back to the same low charge warning. I'm pretty sure that withing the next few months I'll be moving back to another pair of Soundcore buds. UPDATE 1/15/2024: I have finally surrendered and am trashing these buds. WHEN they work they are excellent. The sound quality and noise cancelling are both great. Their big point of failure is that one bud or the other consistently gives an alert that the "battery power is extremely low, please charge now". I often get that when removing the buds from a fully charged case for the first use of the day. All the great attributes of the buds don't mean a thing if one of the buds needs charging shortly after I start using them. I have cleaned the contacts with approved solvents and even used a pencil eraser on them. Most of the time when I replace the buds in the case I scrub them back and forth on the contact points to make sure they have good contact for charging. So, it is bye bye to the LG buds. They are no more dependable than the LG TV I have. I should have known better when I bought them. It is back to Soundcore for me. 01/17/2024 - My FINAL update on these buds. I have made sure that I have done EVERYTHING possible to make sure that the buds are in good contact with the charging points in the case and that the chase has a good charge on it...but tonight...again, after about 2 hours of use I get the normal "battery charge extremely low, please charge now" in the right earbud. Fortunately my new Soundcore buds are arriving on Saturday. I have another set of Soundcore buds that I use for exercise. The sound quality is only slightly lower but they are dependable and I can fall back on them until the LG replacements arrive. Unless you want to face regular frustration, I would advise that you avoid these buds. I did notice that the price has been greatly reduces on Amazon, so maybe they are trying to liquidate a bad product.

Good earbuds, but they couold be better
The earbuds deliver clear sound; however, the volume level is not optimal. I have to increase my phone's volume nearly to the maximum to achieve the same experience as my previous Aiwa earbuds, which provided the same sound level at 40% volume. These are my first earbuds with active noise cancellation, and I expected a bit more from a pair that costs close to $200. The UV cleaning feature inside the case is a nice addition, as well as the 'find my earbuds' function. The microphone quality is quite good—definitely an improvement over the Aiwa model. Since I purchased them on sale for $79.99, I am fairly satisfied; at that price, they are very good value. However, I would not consider purchasing them at their full price.

Doesn't work, rethink buying from LG
Updated review on February 20th 2024, The right earpiece stopped working, taking a charge. This was on Feb 3rd 2024. Reached out to lg support, they left it at their waiting on approval for repair. Takes 7 days for approval by the way(it's February 20th 2024 as of this update). Their support will drag out wait times to rundown warranty repair time frame. This is my 3rd experience having atrocious customer support for LG. And atrocious product durability and being functional. Avoid this company and their products. I'm under the impression their quality control is garbage, from the last LG phone to this product the tone fp9, both had very horrible experience getting customer service as well as a functional product. Fyi HTC Evo 4g still in near perfect functional state, and numerous other brand of headphones exceeding 3-5yr+ functionality. Rethink when buying anything LG. I dread to think this is the same experience for their appliance products as well. Updated review on December 21st 2023, It's okay for the price. The product did what I wanted. It's comfortable in ear after swapping out the ear insert with gel inserts. But disappointed in the fact after a little over 7mo the headphones started falling apart. Build quality I thought was good, but apparently not. Held together by gummy like glue that degrades everytime the uv nano light kicks in to clean away bacteria off the earphones. Sent in for repairs, took about 2wks to get repaired. Otherwise, I bought it on sale on Amazon for 127.19 (thats with sales tax). Headphones work great after tweaking the audio using the android app, and the ANC works great initially for the first 4-5mo. after the headphones start degrading though it goes back to not good anc pass through/fallling apart. Otherwise without using the app to tweak them, these earphones suck, and are the definition of generic overpriced ear phones. On the flip side, they broke down within the 1yr limited warranty time frame so I'm hoping what I'm sent back lasts longer than 7mo before falling apart (for over $100 and the case and earphones being either in my ear or in case) kinda worrisome for such a semi-expensive pair of headphones. Given my $8 five below earphones get the job done, lasted over 2yrs, and lack ANC functionality and app tweaking, it's a wonder how cheaper built headphones are outlasting these 100+ headphones that cost 15-16.5x the cost but breakdown waaaayyyyy faster. LG gotta get on that quality control seriously. Anyway complaints aside, LG did right, and repaired/replaced the LG Tone FP-9 Headphones. The online support took me like 2hrs to get the proper help and support i needed. But once i did, it took about 15days to get a turn around (i was given a 10-15 day turn around time from time of ship out to date received, repaired, mailed back). Regardless i knocked a star off from 4 stars to 3 because of the durability/longevity of these headphones seem to be looking like ill have the same issue in 7mo again if quality control is a thing. Totally think its related to the UV nano light that heats the heck out of the earphones while charging, which of course leads to severe degradation (mind you i use these headphones like every other day for up to 3-4hrs, and would charge the base station every other day up to 2days later). =----- Updated review November 29th 2023, Headphones are starting to fall apart. Their is white gummy like substance, and i cannot remotely get ahold of LG Customer support for any sort of warranty repair, exchange, or anything of the sort. Might wanna reconsider ever buying from LG if their support is so atrocious you cant get any due to consistent text chat drops, phone call drops, and email drops. March 2023 review below Product does as designed, im a bit miffed i didn't realize its superior newer model is out, but this product does what i need. And thats noise cancellation, and audio pass through. Actually the audio pass through is so good i can hear folks i dont want to hear, like 30ft away thanks to the audio pass through (a bit more clearer to put it) vs with out the headphones in. At the same time, with audio cancellation enabled, i dont hear loud and obnoxious employees where i work. So it DOES ITS JOB. Also, the companion app is great, but i wish they'd make it so you can cycle between the 6 modes. 1 to switch to noise cancellation, the other to switch to ambient sound, and then to enable listening mode conversation mode with additional rapid tap, instead of only switching between noise cancellation and ambient sound (and it using whatever was defaulted before/after app setup). Would be perfect then allowing complete hands free functionality. For the record the app is called LG TONE Free on the google play store. It works without bugging out/crashing(once you disable power saving functionality) otherwise the additional equalizer settings/functions glitch up (including read out feature for texts/notices), otherwise, its a great application, and great product. Audio pass thorough the usb c port is great, but having a proprietary cable (usb c to aux) is dumb. Should of also supported usb c to usb c connector on other devices, would of made so much more sense. If this IS how its designed to work that way, why did the last 9 usb c to usb c cables i've tried with 2.0-3.1 versions not do this when plugged into devices with usb c support/direct usb connector when using the tone dock/charging portion and switching to transmit mode? I may have a defective unit, otherwise yeah. Also audio is crystal clear/crisp, based on multiple audio files, from mp3, to wav, and transmitted over bluetooth, and the base station. Only sounds scratchy/annoying if you max out everything on the equalizer setting under custom, but... thats deliberately making it fail, vs stock settings not sounding messed up (if your a audiophile) per audio file. The feature of UV Nano works great, i still clean out the charging base and my gel inserts, just because thats me, but the UV Nano function serves as a decent stop gap for anything bacterial. The blue lights cool, wish it would support UV Nano even off the charger, after noticing buds are docked for longer than say 60 seconds. Otherwise its great in the UV Nano function (when the charging dock/base station) is plugged into a power source. Phone calls are great, with and without whisper feature enabled, personally i had no complaints, and when i tested it between land line, and cellular phones on call quality, was crisp and clear, except at points where i tried to use landline phone literally next to a microwave in active use. But who actually uses earbuds and makes a call directly next to a active in use microwave? Good to know it still works just minor "humming" slightly heard on both parties ends.

Painfully underrated earbuds
These sound amazing and should be recognized more. They provide super high clarity and a wide sound stage. These are my go-to set for audiophile quality earbuds. ANC is good but not the best, but it does not matter for me as they provide a good seal. The buds are small and very comfortable for long hours. Overall, extremely great sounding set, and they deserve more recognition for their sound quality. They are a bit pricey, but I think they are worth the money just for the sound quality alone.

Muy buenos pero…
El artículo por si solo es bastante bueno, sin embargo, la app de LG aún no detecta este modelo nuevo, espero que después funcionen con la app.

Great
Top notch earbuds. Great sound, nice fit. Plenty loud. Good battery. Look great. I don't have any negative with these buds. The ANC is above average, but not fantastic. I doubt you'd be disappointed with them.
