I would run it backwards however, where the tip for attaching is at the end, push it through first, then attach your wire and pull that through. The rod is as rigid as say a fishing pole for 20 lbs test. You can bend it, but it takes quite a bit of effort. I use to have a crazy stick that was 1/4" wide, with locking couplers, I know that would make the distance.
